1999 civic ex new audio system help

Newbie, replacing speakers and thats it?
Hello everyone,
I want to say I am pretty new to this. It will be my first time taking dash apart and the speakers.
So i have a 1999 civic ex, my plan is to replace the complete audio system. All the speakers and the radio. My question is, is that all I will need? two rear speakers, two front door speakers and the radio? just detach the old ones and plug in the new ones? Or will I need some special cables or anything?
Oh this is what I want to buy. (have a friend at best buy for discounts )
Stereo
Front door speakers
Rear Speakers
Thank you,
moto1990

Re: 1999 civic ex new audio system help
You will need a kit and a wiring harness, available at any car audio store.
Some help...
http://www.installdr.com/InstallDocs...PDF/466005.asp
To make the speaker install as easy as possible, remove the stock speakers and take them with you to the store so you can match the size exactly.
Fronts should be "standard" 6.5" with a 2" max mounting depth, mods needed for deeper speaker, [not to be confused with oversized 6.5"] and the rears should be 6x9s, [may have to be a slim 6x9. 94

I have a 98 Civic and I replaced everything years ago, just stick to what fits the car. As said by people prior you will need a Kit for wiring.
I put polk speakers in all the way around and a nice CD player.
I got everything from crutchfeild.

A cheaper way is to just get the adapter harness, it pugs into your cars stock radio harness, it is spacific to your car 1986 - 96/98 or 1996-1989 and newer.
You would connect your HUs wiring harness to the adapter harness, [essenshally making it a "smart" harness].
A Honda /Acura the kit is also spacific to your car, and a number of other Honda/Acura, with a 98 Civic a kit is not needed, with a little custom work the aftermarket HU can be installed using the stock mounting brackets and keeping the stock pocket.

There are "smart" harnesses, they fit your HU and your Honda, they are very spacific and must match exactly.
