Fun comes in many shapes and sizes, but there’s no doubt this Ultralite roadster will produce grins a mile wide

World Class Motorsports is a Texas-based producer of the car you see here. It’s a Lotus Seven replica called the Ultralite and we discovered this particular one had gone up for auction recently.

Weighing in at just 1,240 lbs, the Ultralite is true to its name. Fiberglass and aluminum are used extensively, and its tubular chassis keeps any remaining weight centralized. Minimalist build processes take to horsepower very well, and a 4-cylinder motor from an AP1 S2000 makes the car incredibly fast. Honda doesn’t provide the whole drive-line, though, as power is split between the two rear wheels via a Subaru sourced differential.

Mileage is said to be in the 7,000 mile range, although that’s for the car and not the engine. Mechanically speaking, the 2.0 liter engine needs absolutely nothing and is in top condition. With the exhaust sitting just over your right shoulder, the sound must be incredible! Fresh rubber all around, and high performance brakes add to the fact this is one quick machine.

Setting this one apart is the unique paint job. Multi-color ghost flame paint might not be to everyone’s taste, but it sure does look cool. Does that add to the Ultralite’s $20,000+ price tag? That’s to be debated, but when you’re driving it, that doesn’t really matter.
