Re: spy shots k24/k20 mid engine del sol
heres the rest i took, im sure there will be some better pics soon.
the scoop ducting is not finished yet, i think he is planning on boxing in a filter and having the air routed to the box. oh and the scoop itself was hand made from scratch.

i hear ya, i wasnt feelin it at first either (especially in the turtle stage) but after seeing it painted and on the car i was suprised how well it flowed and its incredibly functional since the motor isnt in the direct flow of air anymore...... and functional is what its really all about right?

absolutely. I personally would have opted for a naca duct, but this one's not mine

Naca's aren't high flow ducts use as engine intakes for a supply of fresh engine bay air, sure.
Since your engine is in the rear now use a 3'' aluminum tubing going to the front of the car in the exhaust tunnel and discretely grab air at the front air you can even add a velocity stack at the front to work effectively at speed, this gives the chance to build an intake box at the front.
I don't normally give out much of my idea's take so, it as a grain of salt.

au contraire
naca ducts are commonly used to supply the engine with air.
however, do agree that ducting under the "transmission" tunnel is a damn good way to do it too.

Of course you've seen it done then never practiced again, simply put it's not good enough for an engine air inlet. You won't see that done in professional motorsports.
Take for instance periscope intake on a JGTC NSX it's mounted high trying to get that clean air undisturbed from the body.
Only other option is to take it from the front of the car before the body distrupts it.

Your point is you couldn't say anything better so you put up useless photo's.
Do your research they are NOT very good engine intakes.
Perhaps you don't understand how important entry is .
1. Sauber is a very old car their use of an inlet was limited to rules since they did 245mph on the straightaway. See CLK GTR you won't find one used as such.
2. A Viper? Omg a production street car viper!...sure will choke that 8 liter engine.
Yep and it's deleted for a greater inlet to the front air dam.

3. See every other newer Ferrari no such use as an intake they are either using a periscope (some F40's did a forward facing (NON-NACA duct).
4. A car that ppl buy for bragging rights no race car by any means.

I agree with you that forcing air though a scoop or velocity stack will increase the volume of air over a naca duct. But your argument against the NACA duct in this particular case does not hold up.
The NACA duct works and the photos I posted prove that it can supply enough air to some of the most demanding engines ever made. To say that it won't do the job well enough on a mid 200hp del sol is ridiculous.
