Re: Rude's 96 EJ8. In the nick of time.
I mean ACTUAL CTR style for my year not that tacky 99-00 remake.
not this
When I see that ^ lip on anything I want to rip it right off. LOL.
Ohio based store chain called Smyth Automotive.
Will be looking for LHD folding mirrors. I want PFM's so bad. But I've had RHD ones before on a EK, I KNOW you cant see ****. May also paint hood. I assumed that my hood would have a texture due to the rust, but it doesnt. So I'll be getting the hood primed and another can mixed so I can do hood/mirrors once I find LHD PFM's.

Lip on. I think I may keep the unpainted look. Car's dark, and EX sideskirts are unpainted, and I think with the color of the car it's not worth matching skirts/lip.
I will order those mirrors today and then find some cheap used low. The mirrors and hood will be matched. And since the hood was actually very smooth, I primed it, will be using it.
I still dont know why anyone ever gets the 99-00 knock-off, unless the struggle is so bad they need to save that $20 difference.

Re: Rude's 96 EJ8. In the nick of time.
Well looks like I'be merging all of my stuff in here. Those dealing with the EJ8, S2000 and even Camrys. There are things to be done to all of them.
S2000. I have new wheels for it, they will need to be refinished. As my great buddy Brice point out, S2000 on RPF1's is played. I'd been looking into alternatives, considering style, and size. I found some. I knew it was played but the setup looks great, and the SBC is honestly the best for the Suzuka Blue. I had considered many things. But S2000 are hard to find wheels for. Since it wants high offest you are getting the "weak" looking versions of wheels. ******* actual S2000 size CE28 look like ***. I considered high end wheels like CR Kiwami, mid range like Enkei PF01, (but both look the same, and wouldnt really change my cars looks.) at the end I even considered JNC's. I WAS going to get JNC010 in either platinum or blue, but just in those finishes they did offer both 17x8 and 9. In the blue only 8, and platinum only 9, and then gold ESM CCW knocks were only in 9 wide. Then I fell across...
PIAA Sport Mesh. Japan wheels. 17x8, 17x9 +35. I will be having these re-finished custom, as well doing the windshield tape removal mod. I may look into side strakes as well. Wheels will be a deep blue teal with prism clear with mirror polished lips.
Camrys. I am going to consolidate 2 into 1. The brown one is dead, the red one is a low mile creampuff that was old lady owned. Drives brand new. Unfortunately I was hit in it, so there is damage to the left rear. So going to swap it's engine into the brown 5 speed, and will be taking everything that is better on it and putting it into brown one.
I've done the radio, front seats (way cleaner), all trunk mats, OEM floormats, spare, mudflaps, wheels, and misc interior pieces. I have also ordered a shift **** for it. That thing on there has been on since I got it, and actually doesnt fit.
There is alot to clean here.
This car will be using my Prelude blades, or the RPF1's, and may also see lowering springs. Havent decided yet. I've already previously used the blades, they look good.
Civic....just waiting on my folding mirrors painting those and the hood, and I will be getting some suspension from the guy I got the Teg seats from. I will be painting the drums and calipers, they are crusty. Should be it unless I decide to swap or turbo, which might be a possibility. Despite looking the part, it's slower than a Camry, so you cant really pleasure drive. So that might be addressed later on...as in next year if so.

Re: Rude's 96 EJ8. In the nick of time.
Yes. Got them from your link. IDK how I saw every possible mirror but that one when I was looking. Anyway they're alright. The glass vibrates at speed unlike the OEM's. But they bolted right up, the adjustment works, and I can see. Unlike my OEM RHD set way back.
Actually if you look at related threads, that thread "Just put on CTR mirrors. Does the USDM non-folding glass fit into them." from 2006 was me when I put actual CTR mirrors on my EK I had then.
This thang
Worth it. Plus OEM's are used and abused, and will cost more, even without a PF relay and switch, which still doesnt matter to me because you cant see from RHD mirrors.

Car looks like a project coming along well.
As far as mirrors go, the best option for that style if you are looking are oem Acura EL models. I think i have an extra set sitting around somewhere myself. They are power, and heater, and for left hand drive of course, and do fold in, but manually.

I ended up with those reps. Good enough. Also the sedan/EL bases wouldnt fit on the coupe/hatch.
However I did clear those too much and it's cracking. Will need a redo.

Also scratch everything about the Camrys. They are gone.
I did pick this up.
Still have Civic and S2000. Never see a reason to rid myself of them. Civic is great transportation and can be fun with a little work. And the S2K, is an S2K, like the Evo (which is discontinued after 15) The manufacturer has not and will not be making a better car.

The lip is an Ebay lip, it's just a copy of the actual style that should be on a 96-98.
I know it's around $50. The other lips run about $30.

Re: Rude's 96 EJ8. In the nick of time.
Well. Swap time.
Dropping it off Monday (given I find the 99-00 Si T-bracket this weekend) and picking it up, swapped with AC. Just a B20Z2 with LS trans a day or 2 later.
Just enough *** to get out of its own way. The stock engine has a bog below 3000, and reading about it, it seems like timing. But also the ISB is bad. I have only had like a few Hondas not do that. For the price of this installed it's sure as hell worth the upgrade, and I get to keep AC/PS.
Pics soon.
