Default RHD EG6 Complete Restoration. Daily driver project

Some of you know my other project car. I still have it, and drag race it occasionally.

Build thread can be found here https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/function-form-build-my-first-complete-resto-3063255/

Anyway, I picked up this diamond in the rough in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. October 30, 2013

Encountered a little set back, 127kms into the trip back, a flat tire. Called up Mom squad, and 4 hours later, back on the road. 9 hours behind schedule, she now resides in my garage.

Current mods:
Carbon fibre "Spoon" Hood, weighs nothing compared to my Seibon
Carbon fibre Spoon style mirrors
Carbon fibre Spoon style duckbill
Carbon fibre rear lower tailgate
8.8lb Flywheel
Stage 3 Clutch
B20B Engine Swap
B16 Tranny with LSD
Mugen Rad cap
Unknown Brand front and rear strut bars
7pt Bolt in Roll Cage
Trust Shift ****
Momo Steering wheel
Ohlins Coilovers
Password:JDM Cross drilled Rotors - Not installed
Unknown brand header
Mega huge fart can on the car
GReddy Evo axle back, not on the car
Injen Cold Air Intake
Mugen rep front lip

Probably find more as I tear down the car

Plans for the car:
Restore to presentable condition
Remove any, and all aftermarket wiring, switches, buttons, and gauges
Move improperly mounted, and non sealed battery back into the engine bay
Replace USDM headlight and corner lights with OEM JDM pieces (car was backed into in a parking lot, and broke the left side headlight and corner light)
Buy new thin side moldings
Replace all old, worn trim and weather stripping
Remove all decals
Fix all wiring issues
Brake line tuck
Wire Tuck

And the strip down process begins...

Started with the back, what a mess of wiring

Tip to everyone, this is not the proper way of fixing wiring. Butt connectors = ghetto

Looks like a snake pit

Wrong size bolts in the spoiler

Took off the front bumper for a little surprise. Bottom rad support is chicken **** welded on, barely hanging on. Guy said it was in a minor parking lot hit, which broke the headlight and bent the fender... Never mentioned this

Not the proper way to run wiring to relocate your battery. Was close to a whole roll of white electrical tape on there. Notice the ghetto a/c block off.

Front fenders and hood removed

Rear is back to normal

And the tear down begins.

Pulling the motor the unsafe way

Got taking out the dash down to a 15 minute job already

Cleaning out the engine bay

Dirty wheel wells

Coilover that came on the car, was told they were Mugens, but...

They're OHLINS!!!

Plastidip is by far the worst stuff I've ever dealt with, in thin coats anyway

Inside stripped, and unfortunately plastidipped as well :/

Other side of the car

Bare shell

Studs on the fire wall ground off and started to clean it up a bit

No more plastidip <3

Something missing?

Its the gas tank!

Rear trail arms broken down to get ready for powder coating and rebuilding

And picked up another set of wheels. Mugen RNR's

Traded my duckbill and some cash for these lips. Finally can start putting my BBS's back together. Got one done today

Bought a set of fully polished SSR Type wheels to add to the collection. 15x7 +35

Picked up a couple of my parts from local powder coaters

Purple Skunk2 Upper Control Arms

Purple Cusco 7pt roll cage

That is my progress so far. More to come

Good luck, have fun!

Good find on the suspension! Probably one of the only positives you pulled out of the deal.

Cleaned up a few parts, and disassembled more

Polished booster?

Seized screws

Drilled out the heads, removed the rotor

I used a small disc grinder to cut a line into the old screws, and used a flat screw driver to remove the remainder of the screw

Frost White. I've always wanted a white hatch, and I want to stick with OEM colors that were available in 1994.

Other than minor surface rust, not anything that sandpaper couldn't get rid of. Body is in mint shape, compared to the other 15 or so Civic's I've owned

Picked up some JDM thin moldings this weekend in exchange for my Injen CAI.

Anyway, did some work on the motor today.

Wiring, valve cover, timing cover and belt, and useless brackets all off

Pretty clean actually

Rear of the motor. CV boots were torn, so there was grease everywhere

Timing side cleaned up

Rear of the motor stripped down

Scrubbed and washed

Tranny cleaned up

Low gloss black paint

Valve cover cleaned up

Taped and degreased

More purple

Nice restoration man. I still remember the day I went to jdmsource with a couple buddies to check this out when it first landed in Canada. Sad to see it's been so used and abused, but luckily it's in good hands now!

Couple parts I picked up from the powder coaters

Motor is completely painted and dried

Valve cover is the wrong color. So I gotta get another one, and just powder coat it

In the process of moving pics over to imgur, so bear with me.

Brought my car to my friends shop and welded up some holes in the engine bay, please excuse my amateur welding

After some grinding with a flap disc to blend everything in

This side still needs work, it was already late, so I had to call it a day
