Got some more done.

Quick pic of my, um, interesting throttle cable and fpr vacuum hose

You can see the clearance issue i had, but a quick bend of the bracket solved that.

Got alternator hooked up to the fusebox and everything in some loom. Not a fan of loose wires, even if its under carpet. ECU plug wires got loomed too, just took the pic too early

Then vacuumed out some 18 year old dirt from under the rear seat and spare tire well and threw the interior back in.

Got the battery tie downs mocked up. It will go here in the spare tire well.

Foam underneath

Aluminum metal bent to fit. Haven't bolted it down yet, but the piece on top will bolt into the spare tire hold down bracket and the other ends will be secured with screws.

Ended the night on an easy note, put some dress up bolts in.

Going down to Atlanta for the season opening game and Nascar race this weekend[redneck]yeehaw!!![/redneck]. Everybody have a fun and safe holiday weekend!

Thanks!

Got a little done yesterday. Got a line for the the gas tank vent ran out back. Normally this vent goes to the charcoal canister in the engine bay, but since it is gone I needed to route it towards the rear of the car to keep fumes from invading the cabin. here is where I cut the stock hard line.

And ran the hose next to the parking brake cable.

Then finished up the battery tie down. The one strap held it in place very securely, so I didn't both with the other one.

Floor back in (with battery charger)

And cargo cover I made several years ago.

Then mounted the catch can.

And my fail of the night: broke the hose end for my fuel return while putting it on

Probably going to have to cut the hose to get it out and run a new line since it will now be too short. That should be a nice pita since the engine is in there now. Ordered a new hose end from Summit this morning and should be here by Thursday. Also should have some other parts coming in this week, so stay tuned!

Thanks guys! Got some more done last night. All the late nights are starting to catch up with me; I got some fun cold/sinus crap flaming up

Put _Justus to work on polishing the header (and his shin lol)
Before

During

After

Going to pick up some 800 and 1200 grit today to finish it off. It probably won't shine like it did new, but it looks a hell of a lot better than it did. How those arms feeling today Travis?

While he was doing that I got the catch can hooked up

And ground wires made

Also pulled out the broken fuel return line and Travis found the gas tank drain. Radiator, replacement return fitting and maybe another goodie should be arriving today. Hopefully tonight i can get those grounds on, the header finished up and get started on installing the radiator. ECU was delivered to Phearable on Friday, so hopefully I'll get it back soon. I went to check on my clutch line today and realized I ordered the wrong one I emailed the vendor, hopefully they haven't sent it out yet and I can get the right one sent. Otherwise i'll probably be bumming a stock line from someone.

Well yesterday was a bit like Christmas. Radiator and fans, clutch line and fuel return fitting came in. But of course I had to fail at something. I got a full core radiator thinking at least the passenger side mount would line up and I would just have to fab up the drivers side.....but no, neither line up. So now i have to drill out the stock radiator mounts and tear them off the radiator support. Good news is _Justus has a k-tuned radiator mount kit that has some nifty brackets i'm going to buy off of him. Here is the radiator

And fans

Also had a fail with the clutch line. I went to check on my order for it and discovered I ordered one for a 2002 Civic I contacted the vendor, but low and behold when I got home it was already there. The good news is it fits, its just long. Since I would have to pay shipping back and a 20% re-stocking fee, it will have to do.

We also had issues bleeding the clutch. The fluid was not getting pushed through the system by my Omni Quicklutch master cylinder. We sucked on the end of the hose (yummy!) and finally got it to gravity drip out of the slave cylinder, but still no clutch pedal pressure or fluid pushing by the master. I'm going to call Omni today and see if there is anything we are missing, but I have a feeling the thing is just plain broken, more than likely by the guy i got it from It almost feels like the shaft that connects to the clutch pedal isn't connected to the plunger inside the master cylinder. Luckily I still have my stock one and will more than likely be putting it back on. Ok, on to the good news.

_Justus finished polishing the header. It came out A LOT better than I thought it would. Thanks buddy!

I Installed the engine and tranny grounds. I always make sure grounds are on bare metal.

Engine

Tranny

And got the fuel lines done. As expected, it was a pita, but it's done.

Going to take a break tonight to spend some time with the woman, but i'll be at it tomorrow until we go out for _Justus' birthday and all day Saturday. If I get lucky my ECU will be back by Saturday and I can start her up

I'm all about the DIY. That way you have no one to blame but yourself when something screws up. Or maybe its a trust issue

Got a good bit done this weekend. To the woman's displeasure, i snuck into the garage for an hour to change out the clutch master cylinder and stick the stock one back in. Plenty of rags to protect the paint

Omni said to send the Quicklutch back to them and they'll inspect it and fix what needs to be fixed and send it back. By the email it sounded like for free, so to them for good customer service even though i bought this used. The plan is to install it down the road at the same time as i get my Fastline shifter.

Got out there Saturday and started the radiator install. First had to remove the stock mounts since none of them would work. I was going to drill out the spot welds, but the new brackets spaced the radiator away from the radiator support enough that i could just cut them off.

And gone

The k-tuned brackets are pretty sweet. Drill two 1/2" holes in the radiator support and rubber boots with nuts in them slip in. Then when you tighten the bolts down the rubber expands and locks the bracket it.

Then mounted the coolant overflow. Tried to hide it away and have it easy to check too. Came up with this

Still have to get the hose for it.

Mounted the radiator fans, checked for proper rotation and wired them in.

The radiator looks like it got twisted some in shipping. Hopefully it isn't enough to crack it and it still holds water. I'll get some radiator hold downs at some point and "persuade" it back straight a little bit.

Put tranny fluid in and oil. Went with non-detergent oil for break in.

Put the intake on and here is the almost final product.

Tried to turn it over to make sure the starter and everything worked. Looks like my battery is dead At some point a couple weeks ago the charger/maintainer got switched from 12V to 6V. I switched it back hoping for the best, but it looks like it lost its punch. Once again _Justus came through and is letting my borrow his PC680 to test out. If it works i'll have to buy another. Good news is the charger is showing fully charged on his battery and it never did on mine. Also got an email yesterday with a tracking number for the ECU. It went out Friday, so it should be here today or tomorrow.

Gonna pick up coolant, more oil and last nuts and bolts tonight on the way home. Have to re-lube the drivers side rear calipers sliders since they seem to be sticking a little. Then going to put the body panels back on. Barring any major problems, looks like making my tuning date this weekend will be easily possible

Like under the fender/bumper? I wanted to get some weight in the back since there is enough weight up front. Plus it was just easier this way.

Let's play good news/bad news.

Good news: ECU came yesterday, two days earlier than I thought.

Good news: _Justus' battery worked, so starter and everything is good
Bad News: I have to buy a battery

Good News: Alarm works

Bad News: I found one of the O2 sensor pins backed out of the ECU plugs on the engine harness. The damn thing just won't stay in. Whatever piece of plastic retains the pin is worn or gone. Luckily one of the harnesses' THE GUY gave me has the 14 wire plug i can swap out. It will be a pita, but it can be done.

Bad News: Car won't start. Sounds like it wants to, but just won't fire off. Pulled plugs and cylinder 1 and 2 look brand new and smell like gas and cylinders 3 and 4 are black like they've been firing. So i left them out for gas to evaporate off over night. THE GUY is going to bring a known working distributor off V3locity's car over tonight so we can see if the distributor is the problem.

Here is a video of it throwing fireballs

Hopefully we have better luck tonight

Alright, last night was a MUCH better night. I picked up the distributor from Joe's (V3locity) house on the way home from work along with a spark checker.....both of which I didn't need. I got to thinking when i picked up the distributor "I wonder if its possible to install this with the cam key rotated 180 degrees" Technically you're not supposed to be able to since its offset, but being the smart guy I am, I remember the distributor giving me a little resistance when I installed it. So I took the dizzy off rotated the key, and it re-installed with absolutely no resistance. We cranked her over and it started and died. Did this a couple times and decided to calibrate the TPS. It was at 0.6 V at idle, set it to spec of 0.45 V at idle.

Then after giving it a little throttle during cranking it fired right up, idled out after releasing the throttle........and promptly puked oil and fuel. Fuel was leaking from the FPR and oil was leaking from what looked like the headgasket and/or vtec solenoid. So we ran to autozone and grabbed some O-rings for the FPR. I happened to have another VTEC solenoid gasket laying around to try. Put both those in and the oil leak was fixed, but it still leaked fuel. Derrick (liloyo) said it was the crush washer on my AN adapter.....and he was right. Took the crush washer out and put an o-ring in and everything was sealed up Needless to say i was VERY relived that it was just the VTEC solenoid and not the head gasket. I let it warm up and the radiator fans kicked on just as they should. And here it is!

I'm going to do another heat cycle on the engine tonight, get the body panels on, change the oil and hopefully start to break her in on the street

Still undecided on whether I want to tow the car to Charlotte/Concord for exhaust and tune or drive it out. The only thing that makes me uneasy about driving it out is this note from Phearable

But then again i'm not going to give it anywhere near full throttle, so I would think it would be ok......who knows. I'll see what I think after I drive it tonight, but right now I'm leaning towards towing.

Tow it if possible Jimmy! I drove mine to RLZ and ended up losing a rear main seal on the dyno. The towing bill is EPIC and nothing you want to pay for...promise!

I cant wait to see this in person!

After this, you can come tidy up the 4dr
