Default my boosted LS build thread (from a while ago) from then till now.

i'm just going to copy and paste it from another board, here's all the stages my teg went thru until this day, still some plans on it, i may even take it down to bare shell again and re-do the complete build just for the hell of it. been a member here for a while but i never posted the complete build. most of it was done about a year ago, it's been sitting in the garage since and only comes out on weekends/nicedays. anyways, enjoy!

i posted up a build thread about my motor but i've been meaning to post one of the entire build that my car has gone through since i got it. i picked it up when i was 16, its my first car and have been modding it since day 1.

here's how it started out, got it 100% stock, and added a 98+ type R lip and slammed it on stock shocks and pac mall coilovers, clear bumper lights and a magnaflow axle back muffler..lol

after that, my clutch went, so i decided to put in a type R clutch, a GSR lightened flywheel, greddy evo exhaust and a reactive 4-1 header. i thought it was the fastest **** out there...haha

i also added the wings west mugen replica lip, shaved the front bumper, wings west side skirts and got a set of GSR hammerheads. too bad i was too poor to get it painted properly, so a can of spray matched paint was up to bat.

got a good deal on a fiber images hood so i slapped that on

then i thought i would give auto-x a try, threw it around some cones. it was pretty fun.

it wasent' the best looking car on the block, but i loved it.

as luck would have it, i managed to scoop up another B18b motor for free. a friend of mine's uncle rebuilt stolen recovery cars and then sold them for profit, he had to change a clutch on a 4 door teg he got but instead bought a whole new motor for it. he asked me if i wanted the old motor and i picked it up in no time, and the next day i had it down to the bare block, cleaned up and ready for a re-build.

[img][/img]

and the tired old origional LS motor.

more on that later.

picked up some 96 SE rims that i painted black just as extra wheels.

around this time, i had just gotten a new job, so more money was coming in, and on the way back from quitting my **** job at blockbuster i get rear-ended by some chick driving a yaris.

so off to the body shop it goes! during this time i was still slowley building my motor.

luckey for me my uncle owns a body shop so i knew i could get a quality paint job, i opted to re-paint the whole car and since i was doing that, i shaved the side moldings, properly shaved the front bumper, shaved the hatch, trunk key hole, and antenna. got all the rust cut out and re-welded, new windshield, all the dents pulled/filled.

don't mind the optshitjdm sticker, the windshield was taken out shortly after lol

no more side molding!

no more rust also

x100000

shaved the hatch, also the trunk keyhole is being shaved too

this is the driver's side side molding holes welded shut

driver's side rust fixed

and one more shot for good measure

sorry no pics when it was in the booth, but here it is fresh out of paint!

all finished up, just waiting for the winshield guy to come by and install a new one, this one was pulled out and painted behind it, just put back into place so the guy can take it away.

to save on cost, my uncle just flat blacked the hood because i was going to put back on my CF hood anyway.

while the car was in the body shop, i decided to polish my wheels, they turned out great but were alot of work. i coulden't put busted up looking wheels on a freshly painted car!

slapped them on

Unfortunally, during any build, you will run into problem. at this point my problem were ****ing theives. a week before i was schedualed to go in to get my alarm installed, late one night i was with some friends eating at a restaurant. well **** heads decided it would be cool to steal my wings west lip, screwing up my bumper in the process. they also decided it would be fun to smash my bumper light.

then i got a new lip, a seibon cf lip. (that diden't last too long..lol)

honda-tech #1 yO!!!

i also did a bmw E46 HID retrofit.

so i needed to replace all my breaks, ball joints, rear calipers were going, so i decided to go JDM ITR 4x114.3. eric @ teknotik hooked me up with a mint conversion.

i also picked up a bride zeda 2 pro seat from smartass. he farted alot in it. the interior also got some love with black jdm itr carpet, amber cluster, gauge pod, and ubar sick racing pedals!

then winter came around and decided to focus on the motor build. we had one freak nice day in winter so engsr, wildout, and my brother (red 4 door) came by. pulled it out to snap some pics.

The motor.

ok so here's all the pics from the motor build.

started out with the torn down cleaned up bare motor: (don't make fun of my motor stand..LOL)

now origional plans were to build a high compression N/A LS motor, using topline usdm B16 pistons, 1mm over bore (almost a 1.9ltr) stock rods w/ARP rod bolts, and crower 404 or 403 cams.

so i sent the head off to grahm at canadian clinder head. there it got milled 20 thou, valve job,a bit of a port and fully cleaned of any carbon.

got the valves machined and buffed

cleaned out the oil pan

some cam gears that i ended up selling to sikkkkktegra

picked up a ITR manifold machined to fit the LS head

got the crank micropolished

and got the topline b16 pistons

and the crower 403 and one 404 intake cam

[img][/img]

Here's where the build took a little detour. one morning i woke up and decided that i might aswell go big or go home. so i decided to sell the topline pistons in favor of some forged CP pistons....you guys know what i was planning. they are 9:1 stock bore

then i got a top mount manifold made by weirtech

i then took the block back into canadian clinder head for grahm to do the block.

the pistons in their new home

at this point parts started rolling in.

turbonetics evolution wastegate

ebay intercooler

then the turbo! T3/T04E 54 trim .63 a/r

got a good deal on a set of SRR cam gears

some eagle rods

then with the help of wildout white GSR we started assembling the motor.

finally, with the help of Trenell, (thanks again bud!) and working till 5am last night, we got this bottom end together. the first attempt i managed to break a piston ring thanks to the shitty piston ring compressor sold at crappy tire (NEVER BUY THAT!!!). thankfully, gram at canadian clinder head had an extra one that he hooked me up with :yeah:

so i picked up a good ring compressor, and we finally gave these pistons and rods a new home. i plastigagued it twice, and every bearing was spot on. i also ended up using topline rod and main bearings. trenell is one good friend because without him i woulden't be able to put this thing together so thanks again brotha~!!!!!! :yeah:

i also got my downpipe in, i made it myself, did all the cuts and mocked it up then with the help of livinlow, he got his buddy to tig it up (thanks yO!) for the first time of me fabricating something, i think it came out pretty damn good. :*****: i took alot of pics, but i'll upload them tonite, but for now here's some....the olympic build continues :laugh1:

crank in:

"uhh...trenell, how do you do this again?"

trenell: "NOOB! gimmie that!"

all set and done :D :

and the downpipe

over night pars from jaPan:

assembled bottom end:

new splash pan, oil pickup installed, all new bolts

rear main seal installed w/new bolts:

put together the head, installed new valve seals, retainers, valve springs and keepers with the machined valves.

my oil feed setup, bought the sammish oil filter adapter and then connected the feed from there, the other two ports on the adapter are going to be used for the oil pressure and oil temp gagues.

feed line:

kit:

here's the return line that goes back into the oil pan:

this is probably one of the nicest peices i've gotten for this build, the greddy type-RS blow off valve (it's gonna be LOUAD)

also with the help of trenell, we got the bottom end all finished up, siliconed up the oil pump and rear main seal and serviced the oilpump too. it's pretty much ready to go!

my XTD 6 puck clutch came in:

also my RC eng. 750cc injectors too

if you look closely, there's 3 ports for fuel to come out of instead of one on the stock injector; pretty cool:

i also thought i'd buy the rest of the OEM parts, so i went buck again at acura. picked up:

-OEM timing belt,
-oil pan drain bolt
-all new oil pan bolts
-all new bolts for the oil pump
-new OEM fuel filter
-new OEM ignition rotor
-new OEM distributer cap
-new intake manifold bolts (all)
-new exhaust manifold bolts (all)

i just realized.......that i replaced every single nut/bolt on this motor :wtf:

well after being screwed over for a fuel rail, i got my hands on another AEM fuel ral thanks to member NixTeg, also member DC24me hooked up a SARD fuel pressure regulator. the motor transplant stars on the long weekend :*****:

also picked up a vaccume manifold with brass fitting kit from turbo smart, intercooler piping kit with couplers and T-bolt clamps, energy suspension motor mounts aswell:

parts are starting to pile up....i'm running out of room lol

~~Day 1~~
it's 5am.....i'm tired....but the motor is ready to be pulled. DC24me and i started at about 11:30pm, he stayed till about 2ish (thanks again jeff!) and then i've been working till now; even smartass dropped by to say wuddup! so far i've taken out:

AC
AC condensor
Power steering
ABS unit
all connections
battery
radiator and fans
bumper
fenders
side skirts (eff u they are going back on :finger: )
hood
and probably someother stuff i can't think of right now. pics:

~~Day 2~~
better late then never here are some pics from the process on saturday:

the mandatory pose:

motor finally out!

so long origional B18B, it was pretty good to me....

where do i put the hamster?

new heart finally out of the basement haha (sorry no pics of the basement extraction, everyone was helping lift it outta there so nobody could take pics :doggie: )

head:

who is this guy and WTF? he's not even looking at what he's doing!?!

ohhh....it's our prezz! buff4prez! haha

mmmm nice and shaved :D

slapping the head onto the block, memeber non-vtec dropping by to help me out of a jam :yeah:

cams in:

and that's all for now, i'll upload more later from sunday. a big thanks goes out to the members who came by to help out,

kraz13
non-vtec
trini-tunerel + wifey
buff4prez + wifey
wildoutwhiteGSR
Engsr
1DA2NV
DC24ME

thanks alot guys! i owe you all a round
~~Day 3~~
~~Sunday~~

diden't do too much, had to get some sleep and gave the neighbours some kind of quite on the long weekend:

getting the motor all prepped up:

decided to tackle the tranny clean up, here's it before:

pretty gross i know. so i sprayed it down with some simple green max, then wildoutwhitegsr sprayed it with some easy off oven cleaner..haha.

hooking up the power washer, this thing is really useful.:

after that i just sprayed it down with the power washer and left it alone for the rest of the night, it was pretty cold out. in the mean time, wildoutwhitegsr and engsr were working on lining up the cam gears and timing belt:

they got that done, then we went to KBBQ, got teH iTiS and called it a night.

~~Day 4 (today)~~
woke up early (yes that's right, i got up early :finger: ) and i wanted to get a good day's work in. so i down'd a can of redbull and went at it. i also put the suspension and fasenend the ball joints so that i can put the wheels back on and have the car as a rolling chassis. it was such a nice day out so i rolled it outside:

then i started with the tranny. all the grease was gone and it needed a nice coat of paint.

masking:

painting:

and here's how it turned out, it should match the motor nicely.

i also painted the tranny mount black, here's the final result:

next i turned my attention to the bay. i removed all of the ABS brake lines and damn were those a bitch to come out. i also took everything out that won't be going back in, so as it looks now is pretty much how it's going to stay, the only things really that are going in are the motor/trans, wiring harness for the motor and a civic 1/2 rad. :

the bay was pretty damn dirty. i then put all the electrical into bags, and tape'd them closed. then started to spray a bunch of simple green all around the bay:

time to break out the pressure washer again:

had to get all up in there..

annnddd...the after; the simple green and pressure washer worked like a charm. all the thick, years of grease, oil, sand came right off, the paint actually looked pretty damn good, but with spots of rust here and there i'm still going to paint the bay:

that took me the better part of the day:

due to a stripped rotor screw, i had to break off the old rotor to install the new rotor and dizzy cap, so that's ready to go and is on the new motor now:

then i buttoned up some little things onto the motor:

i then decieded to call it a day so i can relax a bit, got alot accomplished today, the motor will be in the car by the end of the week, just waiting on some last min parts but i coulden't resist seeing what this would look like :GrinDev: :

i got the bay sanded, primed and painted, here's how it looks, it's still wet:

and finally the new motor is going in tomorow morning:

i re-painted the bay, and shaved a couple of holes on the rad support, finally i dropped in the built LS motor with boost. some pics:

the other problem was that i was running on the stock fuel pump with an AEM fuel rail and RC 750cc injectors. i don't have a boost controller and the WG spring is an 8psi spring. well after 5000rpm, the stock fuel pump coulden't keep up; i have a walbro 255lph at home so i'm going to slap that in and head back to the dyno. but on 8psi, and only revving to 5000rpm, i made 205whp and 197tq. i'm going to grab a boost controller, put in the new fuel pump and be back on the dyno soon. btw it hit full boost at about 3800rpm.

here's some pics and two vids at the bottom.

my intercooler was kinda tiny so i decided to swap that one out for a bigger one.

Thanks to eric again, he hooked me up with a new set of wheels. 15 inch 4x114.3 advan RG's.

i managed to rub a hole in my downpipe, so i got a new one made by weirtech.

i took my car back to the dyno. i was hoping to tune on 15psi but looks like my turbo needs a re-build, so we kept it at 8psi; however now i can rev to 7000rpm! haha here's some pics, i gotta thank nick and eric at teknotic for all the help with the car, nick did an amazing job on tuning, and i have to thank all the people who have helped me with the car like xplicitef, wildoutwhitegsr, ITRboi, and a bunch of other people on this board so -THANKYOU.

and the result:

253hp and 206tq on 8psi - im more than happy with those results. i know people have put down alot more hp but the car is flippin fast as hell to me! and that's my night.

after that, i re-painted my front lip and added a replica mugen gen 2 wing. that's pretty much where it sits now.

big thanks goes out to the teknotik crew, eric for getting me parts and nick for his tuning and the help of members throught the build!

^oh yea about that, turns out that i needed a restrictor on it, that's the reason why it was blowing smoke at the dyno, i have to hookup the dual stage boost controller and head back to the dyno, probably in spring, going to turn up the jam from 8psi to about...16? we'll see what it makes as we go along.

If it doesn't make an easy 400 @15 psi with a vtec head then there is something wrong. Don't know why you would put a phone on the engine though

well im boosting 13 on a fully built block with a 85mm bore and a gsr head and i made 295 hp so i figured on a stock block 15 would make aruond 340 but i guess i didnt take into consideration that his turbo is a lil bigger than mine and his turbo manifold is legit as ****

Something is wrong, a completely stock GSR should make more than that on 13lbs.
