Swapped, tucked, and shaved VSM EJ6 build
Well this will be the third "EK" hatch I have built. The first one I sold, like a dumbass, the second got rear ended, and now I'm starting over again. This has been a very slow process, since I am a divorced father of 2, but it will get done eventually.
Here are a few pics from the day I got it:
Damn those were some ugly wheels. I weighed them and they were 45Lb. each.
For fun, I timed the 0-60 time with those wheels and it was something like 11.2 seconds.
100% stock other than the wheels
Stock engine bay, day 1
I HAD to take those 18s off. I had these old rims laying around so I threw them on for the time being. The car immediately felt faster! and looked a little better.
I stripped the old car (the one that got rear-ended) and started swapping parts over onto the new car.
Wheels, front bumper, Civic Type R headlights, Tein Flex coilovers, etc.
Finally got the SI doors installed and working.
Merging DX to EX wiring harnesses. Good times!
Finished harness, soldered, heat shrinked, and taped up
Might as well install the wiring for the audio system while I'm at it.
a few boxes of goodies
of course they sent the wrong LCAs!
More goodies, with the CORRECT LCAs.
I love burning bushings out! Oh, wait...
New bushings in!
Redrilled Prelude rotors and ITR calipers, machined to fit DC2 knuckles
Buddy club ball joints installed.
Type R rear sway bar, BWR rear brace, Function 7 LCAs installed
OUCH! damn pot holes! those rims were ugly anyway.
Time for some new wheels and tires!
I rode around like this for a LONG time...
Going for that "rat rod" look
Time to finally install the EDFC!
Might as well get RLZ to build me a motor
Engine Specs:
Darton sleeved B18A LS block
bored to 85mm
Z10 block girdle
Type R oil pump
Eagle rods
ACL race bearings
12.8:1 JE pistons/rings
Civic Type R head
RLZ CNC head porting
Supertech valves
Crower valve springs and retainers
Buddy club spec 4 cams
Toda cam gears
Gates timing belt
AEM hybrid cold air intake
Skunk2 Apha 70mm throttle body
CNC ported Skunk2 pro intake manifold
RC 750cc injectors
AEM fuel rail and FPR
Walbro fuel pump, -6AN braided fuel lines
Vented valve cover with custom aluminum catch can
Skunk2 Alpha header
custom 3" exhaust dump with bypass valve
stock exhaust
Exedy twin disc
Hondata S300 with traction control option
street tune- pump gas
race tune- C16/200 shot

Re: LSVTEC96HB's VSM 99 hatch 2.0L build
got the old engine out, time to start working on the engine bay
I started by pulling everything apart, and welding up unnecessary holes.
More progress on the engine bay. I'm not a body man, so it isn't perfect.
Dad helping with the sanding
Laying down the epoxy primer
More progress on engine bay. Gotta love that pea-shooter exhaust.
I put the front bumper on there just for fun.
Still have a long way to go...

Re: LSVTEC96HB's VSM 99 hatch 2.0L build
Here are a few pics of old cars I've had over the years (just the white ones)
My '91 CRX SI built in 1997, back when 17s were cool
My beloved '98 Integra Type R. I had this car from 1999-2001, when I was hit by a drunk driver.
My '96 hatch and my '90 SI at Rockingham, I think this was 2003 or 2004. I built the '96 in 2001, so it looks dated now, but still a cool car IMO. I sold it in 2007
my '90 SI
Another of my '96 with the stock ITR wheels on it:
My '98 Civic Hatch, taken back in 2009
That car was rear ended in 2011

Re: LSVTEC96HB's VSM 99 hatch 2.0L build
Thanks,
Time for a major update
I didn't like the look of all the black plugs covering the holes in the firewall, plus there were a few unnecessary brackets I decided to remove as well.
I didn't like sanding down fresh paint, but the holes had to go.
I used a socket as a template to create the metal plugs
I got pretty close, but ended up having to redo them all a couple times to get it right
one piece welded in
Body filler to smooth everything out.
Sanding, priming, sanding, then more sanding
Sanding done, mocking up master cylinder for brake lines
1st layer of clear down
3rd layer of clear down
And it's done. No unnecessary holes, no unnecessary brackets.
Painted a couple of brackets while I was at it
Decided to do something different with the master cylinder. I sanded it down and cleared it.
And now on to the brake line tuck:
Got the right tools from Summit Racing
Brake line to driver side finished
Passenger side
Brake line to rear proportioning valve
Rear proportioning valve mounted up
Tucks nicely inside center console
Put some grip tape on my pedals too
Stay tuned. Lots more to come!

Re: LSVTEC96HB's VSM 99 hatch 2.0L build
Another update:
Wiring up the engine:
I moved all of the wiring to the center and used the factory grommet. The only wiring that isn't run through the grommet will be the main power wire to the starter.
I cut out the bracket where the SRS module mounts and hacked a hole in the firewall for the engine harness (don't worry it won't show)
Tearing into the engine harness! most people hate wiring but I think it's fun
Pulling all the wires into place
Shortening and extending wires using spare harnesses to match colors
Driver side engine harness plug, extended and relocated through dash harness
Finished wiring for driver side engine harness plug
putting SRS module bracket back in
Engine harness relocated to center, almost finished
More updates as soon as the brown truck brings more goodies!
