kojack's crx build thread. [finally]
after almost a year of having this car ive finally decided to make a build thread.
1. cause im bored as hell.
2. saw old pics of the rex, which inspired me to start a thread.
3. everybody has probably seen the old pics anyways.
ive also finally decided that ill be doing auto x.
so my future plans includes:
1. b series swap.
2. good suspension.
3. roll cage.
the list could go on but enough said, on with the pics.
lets start with my car's history and how it became.
__________________
i bought a 93 civic lx for $200 [i know what a deal] but you get what you pay for.
but out of everything else thats wrong with the car, mechanically it was perfect!!!
runs strong and shifts smooth.
couple of hundred bucks later and a mini me swap [b7 block z6 head]
final product
___________________
so from a pos to a fairly ok looking car, my asking price was $1900, people offered more.
but i found a great deal on an 89 rio red crx si, so i had to let it go.
the owner of the crx was pretty cool, he wanted to trade car for car, but he didnt even start my car, he only looked at the body.
heres the crx when i first drove it around.
when it was first lowered
dohc zc swap
and now the current stance [except thats its not lowered for the winter]
thats it for now. theres a lot of upgrades from the last picture.
my next post would be the detail of each car.
thanks for looking.

i 'fixed' my original 89 crx si seats that were ripped.
even though they were ripped i wanted to rock them.
when i saw someone from somewhere that he was rocking ripped seats.
it inspired me to put the stock seats back on, but with the repair on the bolster and foam.
heres the result.
oh btw. the aluminum tape on the driver side 1/4 panel is still there, its a rust that will be repaired when summer hits.

its a wink full view rear view mirror. $20 at pepboys.
had to get rid of the fat fives. started to hate the look of it.
updates on the build:
kyb agx.
coilover sleeves.
blox lcas.
b&n short shifter.
dc sport header.
da front lip on my rear bumper.
current stance:
yes i do!
i got into a hit and run incident. the guy was backing up out of a driveway and didnt see my car parked across the street and hit my pass. fender. [you can see it on the last picture] guy agreed to pay for a new one. so i bought an oem fender off someone and he gave me the money back and then some.
that means i need to cut side markers again... sigh...

hey it might just be me but in the 8th picture of the crx with the DOHC ZC motor it looks like the radiator hoses need to be swapped where they connect to the motor.
but looks good. how did you get the headlights so clean? or are they new/aftermarket ones?

headlight subject, the original ones that were on the car lost all the chrome/reflective material inside the case. so i bought a set off my friend for $25, it looked brand new, no dust or scratches. a steal.

i like your car so far, rather have a crx than an eg 4 doors and it seems to be heading a good way good luck with that fender

1. i took the seats out the car. [of course]
2. separated the backrest from the buttrest.
3. there are metal staple-like fasteners that are holding the stock seat covers from the seat pan and the backrest frame, remove them. [about 10-15+ total, used a needle nose]
4. removed the seat pan seat cover. [started with the bottom piece, cause it was the easiest] lightly vacuumed it, to removed the foam particles.
5. i have a memory foam sitting around the house, so i cut the to the shape of the rip/hole on the foam. [depending on how firm you want it, i liked how the memory foam went back to the shape i cut it]
6. i used loctite permanent glue spray [same one i used on my headliner] and glued the foam to the stock seat foam.
7. i cut a piece of cloth [depending on your choice of design, i went with the plaid] i cut the clotch bigger than the size of the rip, just in case it gets torn more.
8. glued it on top of the area where you patched with the foam.
9. recover the stock seat cover back on.
10. i used heavy duty zip-tie to fasten them back together. did the same with the backrest and put the seat back together.
viola, end result depends on how well you work on it and how great you want it to look.
i had a really big tear so i went ahead and even sewed the tear together [see pictures, red stitch] i also took my time doing so, i firmly believe in do it right, do it once.
