Money is tight and I want to have a stock motor with nothing done except bolt-ons. The b20 with bolt-ons is about the same as a obd0 b16 with bolt-ons horsepower wise and with better in torque. I hated having to rev out the b16 to 8 grand just to get going. I would rather have torque.
To each his own...

Re: (CBURKE)
i know you said you wanted a motor with just bolt ons but why do that when you had a b16 head with that high comp. ls bottom and an lsd trans. that could have been such a beast

I know but the money I would have to spend to get it going I really need for other stuff. Plus just having a totally stock reliable motor is more what I want. I can always build the b20 in the future if I get some funds for that but i don't want to throw all my money into this car.
I always change my plans though....

It is susposed to be above 40 tommorrow.
Time to start working on the hatch again.
I have a Innovative wideband with Red guage ready to install. I need to get a cheap laptop and learn how to tune on the stock B20.

Re: (civicflow)
I did a couple little things the past few days.
-Took off old knuckles and upper control arms
-Put new control arms in
-Bought some intake manifold and Throttle Body gaskets
-Bought various bolts/studs
-Cleaned out my garage
Picked up something from the junkyard(will have pics tommorrow hopefully)
I got laid off last Friday so budget time til I find another job.
I have busier with other stuff this past week to spend a whole lot of time on it.
One day next week I want to spend a good 6-8 hours straight working on this and drive it before the end of next week. Fingers crossed....

Re: (civicflow)
I was at the junkyard pulling a radiator for my gf's car when I looked over and saw a 88 BWM with the bottlecaps.
I checked em out and they are in good shape. Some scratches on em but some paint will cover that.
The tires are good on em too.
Picked em up for $100 with tires.
Also picked up some cheapo fog lights from Advanced Auto Parts.
More work to come this next week.

Re: (civicflow)
I had to ditch putting on an obd1 b18b intake manifold for now. The eacv is different from the obd0 to obd1 manifolds and I want to get an obd1 LS TB. I bought a b20 TB from someone and it was smaller than the obd0 LS TB(might be a d series TB I figure).
I will just wait and get the matching TB for the intake mani and then get em bored. No monies and I want to get my car going so obd0 intake manifold is back on.
I got most of the engine harness put back together just need to get some more electrical tape.
Almost time to throw the motor in and a couple other things I need to do these next few days.

Re: (civicflow)
Spent some time hooking up coolant hoses, wire harness, and obd0 intake manifold.
Got the motor/trans in finally!
Went to Romeoville, IL and got a DA intermediate shaft, another obd1 intake manifold(complete), and radiator hoses.
The b16 I had in the car had an 94+ integra intermediate shaft which I didn't realize when I bought some newer DA halfshafts. Hence having to get the DA intermediate shaft.
Tommorrow gonna hook up the obd1 intake manifold(gotta take the old obd0 one back out), install DA intermediate shaft, and put on DA radiator hoses.
I had a bottom D series hose and a top universal hose hooked up so gotta take them off also.
I am reusing my b16 stock exhaust manifold on the b20 for now.
Once I put them parts in all that is left for now is to get my EX 4 door knuckles put on and axles then should be ready to go next week.
I still need to get an exhaust manifold gasket(exhaust mani put on just for pix) and some spark plug wires.
Almost there......

Re: (civicflow)
Today finished hooking up everything else(except EX knuckles/brakes, shift linkage, and axles):
Installed front bumper, battery, DA intermediate shaft, exhaust mani gasket and rest of exhaust.
Tommorrow gonna bring the old knuckles and EX knuckles to my buddies shop and get them damn screws off the old rotors. Also one of the EX knuckles didn't have the dust shield for the rotors so I am going to try and take one off an old knuckle and tac weld it on to the EX knuckle.
Also going to lengthen the DA linkage a little more.
So hopefully get that stuff done early and install it and hopefully start it up.
Only problem I see is I filled up my gas tank full before I went to the drag strip at the end of the last season and it still is pretty much full.
I don't want to have to drain it cuz it is around 13 gallons, but might have too.
I wonder if octane booster would help....More updates tommorrow.

You'll love it. My other car is a 1996 Civic hatch. I swapped a late model jdm spec B20B, same as the usdm B20Z. The car makes crazy power with addition of a Toda flywheel, edelbrock header, intake and exhaust

Re: (Deetz)
I just need to get a decent header but that won't come til later. Got the intake and invidia catback w/highflow cat.
I researched a bit before trading my old b16 for the b20. The b20's make some good power with bolt-ons(especially after a tune).
I plan on keeping a stock motor for a while so I figured bolt-ons for bolt-ons the b20 will be funner than the b16.

I am actually using a b16 exhaust manfiold and we will definately have to run against each other at byron.
I just got back from my buddies shop with the corrected shift linkage.
Now time to go get this Nightmare running again.

Re: (civicflow)
Well, I got everything hooked up and installed but no start.
Its getting fuel and spark plug wires are in the right spot. It was getting dark so I packed it up and came inside. Tommorrow I will check to make sure there is spark and injectors are firing.
It turned over fine but not even a hint of it starting to fire up.
