YCP Pistons or RS Machine Pistons on B20/vtec
Trying to find a good piston for high compression with a tight budget.Heard a lot of good things about YCP pistons in the D series community but has anyone had any experience with these pistons on a B20/vtec?Which one you guys prefer?I havent heard much about RS Machine pistons

The only downside I see about the ycp's is that they only come in stock 84mm and 85mm. So you either need to use old bores or bore to the limit. Rs machines come in 84.5 so you can have a fresh bore and a little more strength/room to grow.

I have had great success with nippon pistons, honestly though i think either would be fine...

rs machines are flooded all over H-T. all the way up to 240whp+
do some searching, havent heard of any complaints. they're probably one of the best bang for the buck pieces out there

340whp boosted b16a block with b16b head, not exactly NA but I am plenty confidant if they can survive my setup they can survive any NA setup, i run crap 91 octane, i constantly bounce off the 9000rpm rev limiter and my idea of engine break is "wtf is break in hurry and tune my **** so i can drive!"
Its not a daily so sadly i have only 1500 miles on the engine but believe me when i say they are all rape miles done either racing or tuning, i went through 7 full tanks of gas before it even had 400 miles on it
Also worth noting is the nippon pistons where kind of the big thing before RS got popular, most of people running itr/ctr pistons actually have nippon pistons, mine happen to be the pr4 ones for obvious reasons.

YCP has been out for a long time... Also worth noting is:
YCP=Made in China
Nippon=Made in Japan

b20 vtec.
ycp itr spec pistons + npr rings.
put them in over 8 months ago. NO problems.
would have gone with r.s machines but there were having mad shortages of 84mm units at the time. see very good reports of the turbo units on d-series.org and homemadeturbo, some running over well 300whp on the vitara (ycp/nippon) pistons! also they are MUCH MUCH cheaper than the r.s machine units. i got mine i think for around $200 form some guy on ebay in brazil (forget his name, he did/does have an account on here, ??fujtomi?? or somthing?)
i went with ycp over nippon, last set i saw broke apart and ruined someones b16a. nothing is bullet proof and there will ALWAYS be a bad unit out of X/Y/Z made.
either will be fine as long as its built correctly.

I been using ycp+ npr rings for all the engine i build, since 95 i have no problem with them. But i heard good thing about rs machine too.

Re: YCP Pistons or RS Machine Pistons on B20/vtec
question for all engine builders
where did you get the spec clearance and gap for 84.5mm RS pistons?
Thanks,
