Default where to find 2 layer headgaskets?

Im looking for a 2 layer head gasket for a b20 or 84mm bore b series, cant find any 2 layer gaskets out there besides this "zerg industries" gasket. Anyone know of any?

i would call ge or cometic...im pretty sure either one could make a custom gasket to your specs.

Most people just make their own. If I were in your situation look into getting the GE 84mm HG, its OEM spec and B20V compatible, take the middle layer out, use "hondabond" around the oil ports for a better seal and call it a day. They are $100 shipped.

JW but why a 2 layer? The minimal gains IMO arent worth the possible issues that come with it, (oil leaks, easier HG blow etc)

Your not gona find honda bond (PERMATEX) anywhere on this damn engine, it is beyond irritating listening to honda loving ***gots talk about honda bonding everything on their engine when its completely improper engine building. Im tired of getting engines and having to pick RTV silicone out of every orifice of the engine because its used as a substitute for actual gaskets. If im gonna use a 2 layer head gasket, its gonna be a 2 layer head gasket designed for 2 layer use, not a OEM 3 layer gasket stuffed with honda bond.
/rant

Reason for the 2 layer gasket is im trying to use factory pistons (PHK's), and maintain a compression ratio of 9.5:1-10:1 for supercharger use. Ive factored in some machine work, but i dont want to do excessive machining of the block or head for the sake of compression and leave my self with no room for further machine work. Head gaskets are replaceable, you cant add metal to the deck of a block after you cut it down.

Im gonna shoot cometic an email about their custom gaskets, thanks for the info.

9.6:1 compression wouldnt be an issue normally but i picked up a P8R head with the 47cc combustion chamber and 33mm valves, the larger combustion chamber reduces compression, and the oem pistons need to be fly cut for 33mm reliefs.

go ahead and spend the extra hundred bucks. I pulled a p8r head off my last b20, took the headgasket apart, copper sprayed one layer on both sides and put it back together with no problems. if it makes you sleep better at night then do it I guess. mine is still running without any issues what so ever though...

thats great but id prefer not to spend all this money and then hack up the most important part of putting the engine back together, if cometic can custom make a good 2 layer gasket, id prefer that instead

Putting a bunch of money into a car then cheaping out on a headgasket? Why would you do that? I can't speak for the OP but ya it would help me sleep better at night knowing that my engine won't overheat or get destroyed because of a 100$ gasket I cheaped out on.

its easy. don't let your car over heat. the most important part of a build is def not the head gasket...

i dont follow the honda motto of "build, blow, rebuild", every car i have ever done has been, build the right way once, drive the **** out of it for years. Certainly not gona cut corners when it comes to a head gasket.

Im no ***got and some of THE BEST engine builders and shops around use hondabond. From the factory some hondas had oil leaks on the vtec solenoid side of the head right up front. Its known as the "vtec honda leak" Dont be ignorant and think you can build "the perfect engine" and it wont leak. A dab of it doesnt hurt. If you like pulling it apart, be my guest.

copper spraying the headgasket would eliminate the need to do what that picture from Endyn is showing.

while i agree, i still dont think spraying copper gasket spray over a gasket with a viton sealing surface is a wise thing to do, i aint even gona go in to how many potential problems there are with using honda bond lol
