Default Stock ITR or Omnipower 70mm Throttlebody. That is the question

I am considering going with a larger throttlebody, and curious if it would be a waste of the $99 they cost. It is an affordable upgraded throttle body, however, I am curious if 70mm is too big for those who have gotten to play around with and dyno various TB's on the Bseries through the years. (the Skunk2 manifold would be port matched if purchased)

Here are specs of engine. No port/polish.

GSR head
Supertech flatface valves/dual valvesprings
Crower chromoly retainers
Rocket M22X cams
Skunk2 pro intake mani
Benen fuel rail
RC 550cc injectors
OEM ITR or OMNIPOWER Throttlebody
junk but now 10x better after made into 1pc hytech rep header
3in stainless exhaust
3in Stainless Intake arm to velocity stack w/ filter.

GSR Block
81.5 bore
Supertech forged 11.6:1 pistons
Eagle rods
OEM Honda Bearings

70mm, you will see power gain all across the powerband with it.
Also consider a tuned intake arm (diameter and lengh) with the TB.

Omni but I would use the 68mm unit for the 1800 engine,I have built a few of the engine combo's like yours and they make nice solid power, the M22x was a great choice of cam for that engine of yours.

You'll have to port match the skunk2 opening to the throttle body.

Yea, I had a maxbore GSR TB before that I had sold on here. Omni is best bang for the buck for 99 bucks.

We will be building a stainless intake arm special for it with a velocity stack.

The tapering is a positive thing, it increases flow speed. I would assume that is why Omniman purposefully had 1000s of them cast this way.

I actually plan to taper the Intake manifold's opening as well instead of just a straight shot. I would match the edge to the 68/70mm, and then taper larger to the plenum. Simple stupid stuff that used to make slight differences in the past instead of just going at it straight. I remember being shown this years ago.

And also, Maxbore has a taper process as well. That is how he can make a max opening that is larger than the portion which hits the intake mani. The lip which keeps your stock intake arm on is how he makes the most out of the metal that is there.

So, you're saying that Omni makes better quality parts than Honda? Doubtful.

Im aware of this, just didn't know the same idea applied to a TB.

You would want the larger size on the intake tube side and tapered down at the plate (where it connects to the intake manifold). If you go the other way you will decrease the velocity to which air enters the manifold.

FYI the Omni throttle body is 68mm.... It's kinda misleading and I'm pretty sure it's the same manufacturer as the PP throttle body just a little cheaper.

If you read the fine print those are inlet sizes.

Id look at your map sensor readings before investing in a larger throttle body.
If you still pulling vacuum at WOT, then a larger TB might be beneficial...
If your at atmospheric pressure at WOT, then I dont see a larger TB helping really...
my 2 cents..

Yes i see that. Idk i know someone who had this omni "70mm" has a 4"-3.5"-3" intake setup and is now switching to a 70mm straight through...
