that "block blade" replaces the girdle and ties it all together--I wonder if anyone has one in the US? When Spoon talks about a b16b not being able to rev to 9000-9500 reliably and make power they are talking in an endurance application where it will see those revs for the duration of the race/event.

...Sorry, had to.

if i am correct, i believe the k's use a very similar design in which the oil pan is implemented into the structural ridgidity of the bottom end. I believe a few years ago i did see a full length block girdle on ebay for the b-series but it did not tie the main caps in with the outer edges of the block where the oil pan bolts up. this part would be excelent for autocross and road course applications where engines spend alot of time in the upper rpm range.

that is why in the video they called it "an s2000 type brace for the b-unit"--its a good idea to tie the main caps into the oil pan mounting surface, I am surprised you don't see more of these for real high rev applications made by other companies.

After watching that needle stick @ 10,000 for about 3 sec, those guys owe me a new chair and a change of pants.

I said k series, but all the same the f series (f20c, f22c) also feature this girdle.

Actually, i think the majority of newer engines are using this design. I think it is called a modular engine, don't quote me though. It usually ends up with the head cover with the cam caps incorperated into the cover, then the head itself, then the block, then the intermediate section and the sump. Volvo i know for sure uses this engine design in all there new engines since the 90's.
