Default Simple B20 Vtec (dyno inside)

First and foremost I want to thank all the people that helped out whenever I had question regarding my build. Calvin (black dc4) (Rocket) (Jeremy who tuned the car @ Redzone and gave me in depth answers to all my questions.)

If you're planing on tuning up in Cal Bay Area you can't go wrong with Calvin from Hybrid Works or Jeremy from Red Zone. Both were very helpful and informative on the aspect of tuning and answered any question I had.

Here are the Specs of the motor
91 oct
84mm b20 honed
Ycp pistons from ebay with hasting piston rings
Stock rods with arp bolts
Arp head studs
Stock port itr head with supertech springs and retainers
Stock itr manifold ported matched to a 68 mm throttle body
Buddy club spec 3+ cams @ 0,0
No name 3 inch intake with blox velocity stack and filter
550cc Deatschwerks injectors at 44 psi
Deatschwerks 310 fuel pump
Toda Rep Header
2.5 Crush bent exhaust with magnaflow resonator and jones Muffler

Good looking numbers and graph Pretty fat mid range. I'd be curious to see how this motor opens up with some head-work cams degreed in and possibly a bump in fuel pressure. SOLID build none the less. Makes me really want to get my build finished and stop talking about it.

Are YCP pistons ITR reps or stock B20? That TODA header performs good on everything!

good numbers for your simple setup, pretty impressive. curious to se what it would make if cams are degreed on the dyno, some e85, and open header.

They are ycp itr reps. I also found out the guides are bad on the dyno (machine shop error).
Here are a couple of things i may change in the future.

Skunk 2 ultra street manifold
70-74 mm throttle body
3 inch exhaust
Maybe pro 1 cams or jun 3s

I would even go "bigger" in terms of cams. Pro 2's, M24's, DDtech stage 2/3, Buddy club 4's just to name a few.

What kind of powerband are you looking for?

i would go with (with smart budgeting in mind) :

high rev/drag racing - VictorX manifold - 76mm Blox TB - 3inch exhaust - Pro2/M24/DDTech cams

daily/street - id save money and keep the stock R manifold - try the jun3/bloxC cams for possible gains ... Pro1/M22/DDtech are other options - 3inch exhaust

Car will be used for autocross and track days so I'm leaning towards more mid range, but able to carry the torque through the power band.

oh ok, in that case, id definitely start by upgrading to a 3" exhaust first, and going from there.

Wow that answeres my questions about what pistons to use. I'm doing the same build. I was thinking of going with eagle rods tho. Would the pro x intake be better for all motor? Love the build and numbers bro looks very solid.

Not going to lie, I did a double take when I saw this was on BC3s lol. Those are pretty mild for those numbers, especially since Redzone is actually one of the lower reading dynos around here. It's no Church's that's for sure haha.

Very impressive man. Like you said, I think the 3" exhaust will make a big difference.

Stock ports, crush bent 60mm exhaust, and BC3 cams.... there's SO much more in this motor lol. Personally, I'd ride out the cams.. you have a bunch of stuff you can do to gain power before then. I'd like to see how much they can make.

It just goes to show you that you don't need huge cams to make good numbers. People are always so quick to just throw in some massive sticks when the reality is that the car will probably run better, be under less stress, and last longer with smaller cams.

I'm doing the same thing on the BuddyClub 4s I have in my hatch... trying to hit 250whp on what most people consider a 'small' cam.

Nice build man, I'll keep an eye on this one.

After the 3" exhaust port the head. I think this thing has 225+ in it.

Could not have said it any better (about the cams).

I bet you can reach the 250 mark i have been watching your build and lurked on Calvins old build. I definitely learned a lot.

Im running 3" and im using a hi-flow mini cat made for a vette, 2 resonators and a vibrant universal muffler. Nice and quiet till you put your foot in it.

If I didnt have all kinds of $$ wrapped up in my P8R head, Id sell it and get a vtec head.

Great results for the buddy clubs..

+1 on not needing big cams to make great useable power..

Ive attached a similar build done by a customer and evans tuning. 1.8 street driven car. This is a custom spec by closer to our stage 1.5/2 with some room to grow into it. Useable powerband and acceleration out the corners is what you will be after running a camshaft with bigger primaries with help this.

Did you have balance your block due pistons and rod bolts by chance?

Always a good idea to balance any motor you put together outside of stock. Heck even stock motors can benefit from a full rotating assembly balance.
