public service announcement regarding CC Cylinderheads

Re: public service announcement regarding CC Cylinderheads
true. we all thought that because i was using 93 pump that it was the reason for the low power. But for sure now that we will know what the real story is with the head and will see what she really does. Man I cant wait to see what happens with this new motor. I will say for a possible half as head work I still made some decent power

hmmm... it's a shame...
i know he was also posting/advertising like crazy on a well known VW board. i wonder if they have had any similar experiences with the VW heads he was doing.

I tried to tell a few of you in this thread that Steve was a "Hack" for a few years. But my posts got deleted or ignored. Sucks to see good people get screwed over.

Re: public service announcement regarding CC Cylinderheads
when i was first looking for a porter i couldnt dig up anything bad about him ... everyone had nuttin but good things to say ... i can tell you this tho ,when looking at my head he didnt grind the valve guides at all and told me they didnt need to be replaced when he inspected them for me. So hopefully there wont be a issue there. He installed my supertech springs and flat face valves for me also , hope i dont have a issue with there valves as ive been reading about also. ... the work looked top notch to the untrained eye,

x2 i have told people about steve in the past as well and i was ignored or thought to have been hating. in one particular thread i got bashed by steves customers, some of whom are in this thread. but i cant blame them for sticking up for a guy they thought was doing them right, afterall he was very popular on here. i never care when people disagree w/ me anyway, as long as it doesnt effect me physicaly in any way. most of you know, i always say whats on my mind, speak the truth, and truly dont give a fck what people think of me

didn't see this coming.. forum 'engine builders' never live to the hype.. 30 years with a shop open does...
just saying for future builders.. don't go by a signature or thread count/popularity...
lol, then again i've dropped off an engine and had to break into the same shop to get it back... lol
people suck ***.
sueing ftw.

Interesting to hear. I got a head done from Steve about 3 years ago and it's performed flawlessly and I am still completely happy with the entire transaction and his customer service. In fact, he helped me out of another unfortunate situation I had with another "reputable" head porter/engine builder that use to be on here, at the time.
Rocket was a big supporter of Steve, and I was under the impression that RLZ (Brad) and Steve had some sort of a mentoring type of friendship between the two...

most of Steves heads are obviously "working" and "functioning", its not like he had a huge issue of destroying heads or anything. mainly his portwork is simply sub par and not what he thought it was or promised it to be. you can be happy w/ Steve and your head but theres power left on the table for sure.

Re: public service announcement regarding CC Cylinderheads
yes rlz did the cnc ports for steve. steve claimed he used his own design for those cnc ports, that i am not certain of.
incase anyone is wondering, i am nolonger working with or handling sales and customer service for Brad @ RLZ. after i parted out my car last year we slowly lost touch w/ eachother. customers still pm me and i simply forward them to Brads contact info @ RLZ. just wanted to put that info out there for anyone thinking i may have started this thread to gain customers.

So randy what you been doing these days since you retired? You was great at what you was doing for the sport and deff had a unique way of doing an all motor setup. Hope one day you can get behind that wheel again ;-)

It's not really an issue of who's to be the next scammer. It's more like who's popular enough with the masses or the next flavour of the month. All they have to do is talk the talk and just pretend to walk the walk. Then the masses are all theirs! As long as the price is right! You got to pay to play! That's why shops that have been around awhile and know their shyte cost money!

Re: public service announcement regarding CC Cylinderheads
not sticking up for anyone, but it seems like what steve was offering was good customer service and good price for a decent head. Its obvious that he didnt have the knowledge or skills that brad has, but then again, around that time there was a lot of " Wheres my RLZ head" threads popping up. Either way, its sad to hear...

it's even more sad, that when you asked for " who to send my head for portwork " , some of the guys in this thread would jump and say " cccylinderheads!!!....now he butt****ed them...
I'm not defending steve in any way...but what would you expecting, a race head port job for half the price with steve?
i remember threads about gaining 8 to 10hp with steve head...and some more....it's not like people did not make more hp and picked up tq...they did...not a the level of a professional head porter, but more at the level of a hobbyist/enthusiast...
what I can't pass in my head...how can you send pay a guy for a job and then come up with this **** that was subpar...somebody must have vouched for him...racers just don't send cylinders head to a guy without some kind a vouch from others racers or close people from your side...
there were a lot of guys here going CCcylinders FTW!!! so they were recomending steve without having any type of work done by him for them....that then is really sad...
with so many proved CNC programs over the last 3 years...why would you go to a hobbyist ...when youre making a big investment in a engine...why cheap it out....
there are some good companies that you don't hear drama overs the years...
portflow
headgames
cncport
pure tuning
HDR
and some others...just stick to what works...

EXACTLY this is so true
and you dont see the best, most knowledgable guys in the cylinder head industry spending time, making posts and showing pics on h-t and other forums day in and day out.
