Need some tech help on a stock B20Z, cannot get cyl 3 to fire
This is on a 2000 CR-V, the car started throwing CEL's like crazy after the first cold night we had here. All ignition related, random misfire on all cylinders. I replaced the plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and ignition coil. Car ran great afterwards but still threw CEL's and I didn't get a chance to check the codes again. Well, two nights ago the truck starts running like complete crap and gave CEL 73 and CEL 74 (random misfire cyl 3 and 4). The plug for cyl 3 is wet with gas, when I pull the plug wire to it while its running nothing changes. So obviously no spark is getting to that cylinder. I switched around the plugs and wires and it was still cyl 3. So I know the plugs and wires are fine. I took the dizzy apart again and everything looks fine.
Also, A compression test shows 0 compression in the cylinder but I assume thats because its soaked with unburnt fuel now.
Ideas please!

check your cam timing!
either the timing belt has jumped a few teeth on a pulley.
you have bent valves
hole in the piston
or you did not use the compression tester properly.
to get 0 compression something is either wasted (block/piston/valve) or the gauge is shot (did the other cylinders show up any compression?) remember to hold the gas wide open when you do the test and crank it 10 or so turns. pulling the ecu fuse helps as it stops the car from injecting fuel whilst you do it.

nope, i'm sorry to tell you but those engines are bad about burning a valve.
the back of the valve literally has a river channel through it or the valve seat of the valve is pitted to hell.
i'll put $100 bucks on it :p

Upon further research, I'm also banking on a burnt valve. Forgive the n00b question, but should I expect piston/block damage or is it as simple as pulling the head, some machine work, and switching out the valve?
