Default King Motorsports Intake manifold test!! check it out!!!

So for a long time we have wanted to try the Edlebrock performerX intake manifold and compare it against a b16 and a TypeR manifold. So my girlfriend's car was the test mule. here is the build and results

Ls-vtec
p30's stock bore
b16 head mild portwork .030 mill
typeR cams and springs
65mm bored stock TB
Hondata s100
Hondata IM gasket
Aem 3" typeR cold air
crower cam gears
stock injectors
DC 4 to 1 small collector header
omni test pipe
greddy sp2 exhaust

First step was to tune the b16 intake manifold for max power before it came off. Then the edlebrock was tested and fully tuned. Next was the typeR because that is the one she owns.

All manifolds were tuned with the best vtec transition and the same A/F at 13.2.
Cam gears were not touched after the initial tune. So all manifolds had the same cam position. Vtec was generally between 4100 and 4300 rpm. All manifols were tested with the same intake and TB, Also all manifolds were opened up to 65mm to match the TB. The performerX had to have a little fab to make it fit on a 2000 integra, the fuel filter bracket had to be moved 2 inches towards the passenger side.

Red is the Edlebrock performerX
Blue is the typeR manifold
Green is the b16

Below: see how the fuel filter bracket had to be moved

Below: B16 vs. Edlebrock performerX

Below: B16 vs. TypeR

Its kinda funny that the typeR held power longer than the performerX tho. The performerX actually has longer runners than the typeR.

would skunk2 manifold be right there next to the ITR? or would it be below/above?

It would be cool if someone did the test on a 2.0 already.

Excellent test!!
Interesting to see how close is the PX to the ITR on the top...
Also, PX starts to fall a bit sooner the ITR?!

Thanks for the comparison. I would be interested to see what a shorter intake tube would do to the results, especially the Performer X's top end. Good Test!

Mike another good test. It's nice to see how they work on a mild build.

We tried a shorter intake just to see at multiple lengths it didn't do anything at the top.

The intake tube would have to be modified because of the funny angle the throttle body is mounted on.

Just for clarification, the Type R manifold was the stock Honda piece and not the old Skunk2 Type R copy or the new Pro intake correct?

Looks good but I would be curious to see how much more the performer x outperforms in the higher RPMS with a lumpier cam. I feel like that is what makes the R and the X look so similar
