Re: Identity Crisis : identify stock ITR head.... (who00knows)
this was covered last week. u need to look at the cams for identifying marks (ie the rings around the end of the cam) then look at the distributor cam holder for some green paint. it may or may not b there, it does wash off with superclean and or simple green. i know because mine did. lastly look at the color of the paint on the valve springs. search though and u will find ur answer.

blue on the exhaust springs = ITR yellow on the intake springs = ITR...do you see any signs of green paint near the dizzy on the head? to identify cams if OEM
The intake ports should have a lighter shade of silver, from being ported as seen here:
and as stated above there is a dab of green paint where the distributor mounts to the ITR head, but this isn't a sure way of telling either, because the paint can be washed/rubbed off. (can be seen from looking at the top of the head towards the back (intake manifold)
"PR3-x WILL NOT DESIGNATE AN ITR HEAD"
The PR3-1,2,3,4, etc. is a shared part number between ITR & B16A heads. It is NOT a sure way of distinguishing an ITR from B16 head, at all.

Bringing ths back-up from the dead, My friend is selling an itr head it has the intake manifold and tb. I havent looked into the valve springs in other words the internals. I was reading that they have diffrent cam caps than the b16 head, Is this true? If so whats the diffrence in the cam caps because I want to determine if it is a real itr head.

I believe true ITR heads have the bowls ported on the intake side from the factory.....
They also have lighter weight valves. Notice how they're thinner towards the big end of the valve.......
Hope this helps!
