o.k first off this is not a bashing,mudslinging,or finger pointing thread. i really like donf.
i had him rebuild my ls block last winter. i put down half the price when he recieved it and the rest when it was done. its been done for 6 or 7 months now according to him. it still hasnt been shipped. there for a long time i could get him on the phone but lately ive left more messaged on his phone and im's on here than i can count and no response. ive had others on here that know him well contact him also. just the other day i had a guy on here get him on the phone after i tried numerous times and he was suppose to call me that evening. well i got no call and ive left several messages since then with no results.
im makeing this thread to get everything out in the open so i can get my block back. ive made it clear that i wanted it back before the winter set in cause i want to get the motor together and tuned since i have to do everything outside. hes had the motor more close to 10 months. i really hate to do this to a guy i like and respect,but when i feel like im being ignored i dont know what else to do. i need to get it back soon or the car will have to set all winter. i have alot of time and money in this setup and i have everything to put it together. its just really frustrating waiting on something like this when you know you should have had it months ago. i feel like just selling everything and saying the hell with it all!!!!!
anyway comments or questions are welcome,but keep it civil please. i dont want this to get locked,im just trying to get the block back. THATS ALL!!!!

10 months wait for a built block? REEE DICK Q LISSS. Do what you have to do. If you tried calling and pming him with no response, you have to take it a step further. GL on getting your block back.

yeah i know. i have had good luck so far doing buisness on here until now. steve at cccylinderheads did my head and was great to deal with. had it back in under 2 weeks. i dont know how many people are gonna respond to this thread cause i know he's well liked on here but we'll see?

I only ask cause DonF is a stand up guy and I've never heard of him doing anyone wrong.

thats what i thought to. for the last 6 or 7 months done and paid for. ive had tried contacting so much im sick of it. its just a ls block block with o/s type r pistons and arp rod bolts. nothing crazy.
i could give the names of the other people ive had contact him but im not gonna do that. if they wanna chime in then thats fine.
i know im gonna get some doubt from people cause of who it is but thats the truth. i have nothing to gain or no reason to lie,im just trying to get my block thats been paid for over half a year

i stopped doing motors because honestly people have no clue what it takes to build one correctly so its issue free. most cannot even come close to affording what they want. then you have the forum people that spread false info like you can build that for 2k what a rip off blah blah blah. then there is the local ***** who sells his unqualified 1 dollar an hour labor for a 300 dollar labor cost rebuild. if anyone hasnt noticed there really isnt anymore great engine builders willing to build. there is no incentive to. obviously donf is a very capable engine builder but i feel like the prices people are will to pay just dont justify really caring about doing anything decent or even on time. this may or not apply to the OP but it sure as heck applies to a lot of peeps on this board.

personally i would'nt assemble a long block for less than 2k labor. but plenty of "so called engine builders" do it for 300-500. this is also why you seldom see anyone making decent power. the lot of you guys are "retail customers" so if you dont want to pay retail or you grind the guy out of any profit then dont complain about bad service or taking forever to get around to your charity work. some think 2k is REE DICC Q LISS but its appreciated greatly in about 2 years when the motor is still running trouble free and you can still drive it anywhere and not worry about it blowing in 10k miles or less.

Already have.. I spoke with donf on the phone For 4g.. As donf and I are good friends.
His motor has been finished, just not shipped, Donf is the only person working at his shop now, and hasn't had any real free time to get a freight company to come out and pick up this motor...

I gave don, 4g's number for 4g, i told 4g his motor was done, 4g was in the mind set that his motor was still being built. You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes.. It took a few weeks to get my motor shipped to me, because he's so busy.. you guys need to relax, i spoke with 4g wednesday fyi.

Don is a 1 man shop, and hes not 25 years old, i think he turned 35 last week =P. I know it can be frustrating waiting, but youll be happy with the end product. Ill talk to him for you too and see if i can help out.

Omni's BS rant is not true specifically the part about great engine builders.

I guess Jeremy at Inlinepro, Jerry Built, Jim Justice, AllenBuilt, BolisBuilt, Miller, Bisi, Evans, d-rob at IMW, runnerdown at synapse, Mike at KingMotorsports, Cheetah, RLZ, etc are no good. I could go on but whats the point.

What people charge is directly related to what their customers are willing to pay. Thats what his point is and its ABSOLUTELY true.

Don IIRC used to charge around $1000 to assemble a longblock, i would bet its hard for him to get those prices now because kids dont want to pay that much. They can pay joe schmoe down the street $300 to slap it together. itll make 20 less whp and blow up 10k miles later, but hey, at least they got to drive for 10k miles.

I think thats all omni was trying to say.

Hell 5 years ago everyone was buying $650-1000 headers, look at that market now.........

if your waiting 10 months for an engine i recommend you request a refund, if he wont provide one contact the attorney generals office in the state in which he is located. I had a similar problem about 5-6 years ago, paid a guy 1300 for a short block quad4 motor, after about 9 months he told me it was done and he was gona ship it out, i gave him an address, 2 weeks later, no motor, i contacted him, yeh im gona ship it out next week..2 more weeks go by...no motor, then i couldnt contact him, he would hang up the phone when i would call, wouldnt respond to my emails, finally i had enough, contacted the attorney general of wv, a month later i got a frantic phone call from the guy saying he wanted to return the money to me in a cashiers check, and then i finally got my money back, unfortunately with no engine.

Do yourself a favor and contact the appropriate authority's about it, it doesnt take 10 months to build an engine if you do it professionally for a living, trust me. My buddy can build race motors for all his cars and other people and it never takes even remotely close to that long.

why? after the man recieves his motor maybe. future customers might want to know this has happened. it literally takes 5 minutes to go to freight quote and have companies send their bids for the shipping.

I don't know about Joe Schmoe, but everyone I named can build engine as good as if not better than Steve.

Let's get beyond Steve's BS and help 4g get his block.
