Hp Gains Suggestions
Hi guys, im new to this forum.. this is my 2nd post but i got a couple of questions. I have a Dc2 with a 98 Spec Type r swap from Hmo with Lsd. i was wondering what i could do to get some good hp gains without boosting. How useful would Hondata s300 be on a stock motor? all i have is a Edelbrock Victor X intake mani and stock itr headers and ctr cams. Do you guys suggest new cams and valve train or what? im not trying to spend a shitload of money . it just want a little more power. please help would be appreciated
let me know asap. i got a grand right now and im trying to spend it wisely. so more money is on the way though

First you have a headeR. One, singular. The s300 would be a waste of money. The Victor X is only hurting your power. What kind of budget are you on and what kind of power are you looking for?

Good motor to start out with. Start with basics. A good tune up also yields power. A good tune up goes a long way. Intake, header, and full exhaust. Then if funds allow, cams and valvetrain. All that, with the S300, and you will be looking good. The hart part or rather easy part is to decide on what parts to go with. Good luck. You should take a look at the all-motor dyno threads. They give you an idea of what makes power. BUT, JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE SAME PARTS AS THIS GUY, DOESN'T MEAN YOU'LL MAKE THE SAME POWER. EVERY MOTOR IS DIFFERENT. Good luck!

Put your stock IM back on asap. Set a realistic budget and look around at what people are making with what. Also be aware that buying one part can turn into buying others also to run them. Don't overlook gearing too....quality investment and you don't hafta tune for it.

Well considering he already has the 4.785 FD (if he has the original trans that belongs to that motor), he should be set. The N3E transmission is everything you need + more. Regarding you motor, get rid of the IM and source a stock ITR one.

Yea the Vic x is too big. Made for turbo apps and higher displacement NA builds, specifically 2.0L and larger. The RPM range isnt usable with that intake manifold for stock motors because the RPM range of power is 7-10k. For 1500 I would sell the Vic X and get a Performer X, build the head and cam it with some pro 1's and tune tune tune.

Sell the Vic X for like $250 and your budgets gone up to 1750. Performer X IM, built head w/ cams and gears and injectors can be had for 1750 easily. Im building my head w/ pro 1's and injectors for 800+ tune. You just have to find the right deals, HT marketplace is a good spot for that.

Don't buy a s300, for less money you can get neptune which has more features, great customer support, and new features are always being developed and added.
