Default How is this port/polish job (Steve Kodd Racing Engines-Hampstead, Maryland)???

For the professional head porters on here, is it possible to say if this headwork is good by looking at these pictures? I was told that it powered a civic to a 11.7 second 1/4 with a built 12.5:1 CR b20 block est 210-230whp.

im not a professional but unless its a full race car its not pushing a hatch to 11.7 ETs with 210WHP.
also it looks like a stock head with some sanding done to the ports. i havent seen a port from a professional that didnt have the divider "knifed" to a sharper point.

Those pics arent too great, a few of them dont even have anything to do with headwork, but that aside.

In the top pic, the exhaust valve on the left, and this could just be an optical illusion, looks to be sunken in a bit, but its hard to tell because of all the **** around your seats.

If i was to port that head, theres a few things id do differently, put it that way.

I noticed that also. Maybe it was a street port? I was inquiring about this head that was ported by Headgames with their "street port" stage. Here is a couple pics of it, which looks like stock. Was told that's it's similar to an itr headwork.

This is a different head, one worked by Headgames. Just used to illustrated that the divider wasn't touched much.

You can see the casting marks go all the way to port entry. Like he didnt even touch them. If by Type R style port, them mean just the bowl area, up in the throat a little, looks like thats what you got.

Thanks for all the inputs.

Aside from not much was touched, does it look like any of the work was actually detrimental to the performance of the head?

I was told that this head had Jun valve springs and retainers, and I have a set of Jun3 cams waiting in my room. If it flows as well as an itr head, I'd be complacent with it.

Id have to see some pics of the bowl area, detailed pics of the seats to see if its damaged. From what i can see, which is not much, since they didnt do much, its probably not detrimental.

That depends on whether or not you intend to use a copper head gasket/'O-ring' setup and how much the head has been milled. I think I see a recieving groove cut around the combustion chambers.

a little off topic, but you might want to give thsoe retainers another look.
it looks like the rockers have been hitting them

heres a bone stock ITR port from one of my old heads. compare it to the head that headgames did. i bet the work from headgames was just deshrouding of the valves and a good valve job. that port you posted up looks untouched.

that is so not one of our heads...there is nothing done to the ports and we use bronze guides in every ported head that leaves the shop..and I would also turn the job down because of your retainer/keeper package..definitely don't want my name affiliated with that!

i could definetly see a hatch going that fast w/210 whp. weve run 11.30's w/ 196whp in our car. its all in the suspension and tranny.
