Im pretty sure his orignal post asks specifically what he can do to get more HORSEPOWER from the engine. Not how he can prevent theft. Come on people...

start with basic breathing mods. I/H/E. Don't expect it to be a land rocket. Its a B16.. If you are serious about keeping it look into gearing options also. A good 4.75 final helps out a LOT with the torqueless B16.

turbo alot of ppl is doing it here in nashville,to make decent hp you need alot of money for a b16,to make 200hp lsv or poorman typer, are a torqu monster b20 vtec, with a nice set of tune ecu and etc,but manly money lots of money i/h/e is just a wast of time on them motor, but you dont have to take my word for it,its just my 2cent.

If it were me, I would:

1. Get an Edelbrock intake manifold

2. Get a Toda or Toda replica header

3. Get Skunk2 Stage 2 cams and valvetrain

4. Have .020" taken off the head (this one is optional)

5. Get it tuned

Here we go again. Its not a "waste" of money. It takes money to extract power from something with less potential. You have to be a little more thoughtfull of the parts you use and make selections that will work well with each other. Is this a "waste" of money? Not exactly in my opinion. If I could make my B16 take out your H22 then to me, I wasted nothing. I accomplished something most people would say could not be done.

I didnt mean that it was a waste of money on a b16. That was a general statement.

1. drive it as-is.
2. build a "hot" engine independent from the current vehicle (all motor, turbo, supercharged, whatever flavour suits your fancy)
3. nitrous oxide the living hell out of the B16, non-stop.
4. install new engine, and prob. a new clutch with it.

actually, i now realize i should have asked how much power he wants to make. knowing that information along with his budget would allow us to look at his power goal with a more realistic perspective.

For the first foray into the B16A world with your budget I would go the following route:

Some type of cold air intake -AEM V2 or Injen
68mm throttle body-Professional Products or Blox
Intake Manifold-AEBS or Skunk2
Buddy Club Spec 3+ cams
Buddy Club thin head gasket
Toda Replica or Kamikaze header
Tsudo N1 Extreme exhaust-Great Sound
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Iridium Spark Plugs-Denso or NGK

The total for these parts should be around $2000-2200
Horse Power should be in the 175-185 range.
If you could hold off a little longer and save some more money I would suggest that you purchase a 4.785 or 4.928 (M Factory) final drive and a light weight flywheel (Fidanza). They will make a BIG difference on a B16A.

For $2500 just buy a B18C and be worlds ahead of a B16.

The Iridium plugs make LESS power than cheap copper-core plugs, they just last longer.

first thing i would do is put the factory ecu back on it cause you have no clue who tuned it, how well they did, street tune or dyno tune. more than likely its running lean

Fuel pressure regulator is completely useless. Standard plugs make more power on the dyno.

LS crank and rods with CTR pistons is 13:1 compression. Good luck running that on the street. Hope you don't have emissions in your area.

Love how people read a few things, then add a few R parts and assume they have the greatest combination known to man.
