Has anyone had any experience with these camshafts? I have not seen them used in any builds, yet they are priced very well. Also they do show the specs of their cams, if anyone could elaborate what these specs mean as far as all motor performance goes that would be great.

They are one of the best and most reliable camshafts you can get for the B-series motor. We've used them for years .. made as much as 283whp on a dynojet 248C with a 92mm Crank setup and Endyn rollerwave pistons, with Endyn head.

Also, Larry gives precise degree specs with the camshafts.

thanks for the response and input. I haven't seen many builds with them and was curious as to why, from what i have heard and researched myself it appears Endyn does extensive R&D before releasing a product, I'm beginning to become interested in using these for the B20 Vtec build i will be doing soon.

Also, What is the idle of these like? are they lopey or smooth? My setup with mainly be a street car with occasional track use.

from all the reading i have done on here the VTEC lobe is the same, as for the primaries i just did a search to confirm and its up in the air. If their are differences they are miniscule

oh, i assume the information i found was done on the VTEC lobes and not the primaries, but who knows, the information i found may not be accurate. If Larry said they are the same, well, he makes the camshafts and he would know.

That's interesting I've never realized that I haven't seen the Endyn cams in many builds either.

I'm not surprised when a sponsored camp is saying it's one of the best/reliable cams out there though.

there was an article published where he mentioned the jun3 as being the best vtec cam he had tested. small differences would be expected in his grinds. a degree or two of duration, small lift variance etc. endyn is one of the best high end shops in the country period. anyway you stack it those bumpstix really keep the valve open with those numbers. i would hate to see the result of those with out measuring clearances or degreeing them.

Maybe swapping out my Pro2's for Bumpstix or JunIII cams wouldn't be a bad idea?

From these specs i noticed that the Skunk 2s have huge lift compared to the Jun IIIs as well as the Bumpstix. They also have a longer ?overlap? correct me if I'm wrong, not sure if I'm using the correct terminology. Bigger is not always better though when it comes to camshafts, ive seen people make more power with "smaller" camshafts on dyno comparrisions back to back.

Skunk 2 pro 2 camshaft profile (B series)

Intake Lift - 12.801

Intake Duration - 270 @ 1mm

Exhaust Lift - 12.204 mm

Exhaust Duration - 276 @ 1 mm

Wow did a quick search on Blox type Cs camshaft specs and found interesting results to say the least. Blox Cs have identical specs comparred to the Endyn camshafts, NOT the JUN IIIs. Maybe this will put to rest the speculation that JUN IIIs are the same as Blox cs.

BLOX Cs

Intake Lift - 12.217mm

Intake Duration - 268 @ 1mm

Exhaust Lift - 11.633mm

Exhaust Duration - 264 @ 1 mm

ENDYN BUMPSTIX

Intake lift - 12.2174mm

Intake Duration - 268 @ 1mm

Exhaust Lift - 11.6332mm

Exhaust Duration - 264 @ 1mm

JUN IIIs

Intake Lift - 12.0mm

Intake Duration - 265.3 @ 1mm

Exhaust Lift - 11.5mm

Exhaust Duration - 265.3 @ 1mm

Guys,

I hate to burst your bubble but advertised specs really mean poo. The only way to really know is to measure them. There's alot more to a cam than lift and duration.

Check in the MarketPlace, I see SpoolinPerformance (project dc2) selling Blox cams for $350.

I am wondering why you cannot go by advertised specs? why are they wrong? How would one determine what camshafts to get if you do not know the specs without buying them and measuring them..? Excuse me if i come off as ignorance, I`m just trying to learn.

There are some camshaft companies out there that think since their profile on a v8 work well, then they could just go right ahead and use the same profile for a Honda.. Well for one most of the v8's are not overhead cam... And two, they sure dont have the same rotation since Hondas (B,D,H) spin the opposite way... Geometry factors come into play. We only have rocker arms that ride on the cam. Unlike pushrods to rockers. A little different..

Ramp rates are one of the main factors of different cam manufacturers.. The steeper the ramp, the quicker the valves open. Although sometimes with an improperly ground camshaft, this can put unwanted "Side" pressure on other parts of the valve train..

There are alot of factors that come into play with OHV engines that most people overlook.
