EK9 jdmB18C-R wanting to hit 13's..............help!!
Sup to all the peeps here at HT
YES im a new-B here.....
Anyways I have a 96 civic h/b with a 97jdmB18C-R.
my upgrades as of now is a jdm 98 itr 4-1 header, cold air intake, ngk wires and plugs and a 2.5 straight through exhuast with a cheap *** muffler thats hella loud. Fluidyne radiator and im using Mobil 1 full synthetic 10w-30. This weekend i posted 14.5 with just kumho radial tires and the rear seats removed. my friend advanced the distributor by loosening the bolts and sliding it forward and posted my ever best 14.2'ssss.. My question is, was that a good idea and what are some parts that i could possibly buy to break that 13 sec mark. I want to stay ALL MOTOR and without having to use slicks . my ride is a daily driver as well and I would like to keep it that way. I am going to purchase some TODA gears but F**k*n Inline 4 is giving me the run arounds....PLEASE HELP!!

Post your timeslip.
what is your 60ft?
what is your trapspeed?
I have these gears and they are the same as the Toda's virtually.

The car already does 13s.
lower the tire pressure down to 25psi and lower....depending on your surface and style of launch.
On street tires, your target 60ft time is 2.2xx. Anything lower is *almost* slick territory.

as bad as some of my 60ft's were...i have never gotten a 2.7...you definately need to drop those 60's...like "ragingangel" said, drop that to at least a 2.2-2.3 and you'll be in the 13's for sure...good luck on your next time out.

Damn, I thought my 60's were shitty at 2.4!!! Work on your launches and you could see 13's as is. Watch out about messing with your timing too, if you advance it too far, you'll start to knock.

Is this guy kidding? Dont listen to him, 2.2 60' is not slick territory. 1.8 and lower is moderately slick territory, i can pull 2.2 60' on some cheap *** road kings its all how u launch. and those cam gears are junk.
back to the subject u need to get those 60' times down. are you spinning? or you bogging. go to a empty parking lot with decent pavement and practice launching you want a little spin and grab. u dont wanna go spinning the entire time. start launching at 3800 and work your way up til you are satisfied with the launch

road kings are so cheap they are like wrinkle walls. work great! im kidding.
juding by your trap speeds youre actually making enough power to be in the low 13s. and...14.2 - .6 = 13.6 .6 is what needs to come off your 60ft. youre there

No I am not kidding.
Since you are so good at quoting me, I will assume you read my post in its entirety and NOTE....I said anything lower than 2.2xx is *ALMOST* slick territory.
Let me reiterate again.....
*ALMOST* slick territory. Meaning anything BELOW 2.2xx is *ALMOST* slick territory.
That means if you pull a 2.1xx it means it is *ALMOST* as quick as using slicks.
Meaning if you get a 2.0xx it is *ALMOST* as good as putting slicks on.
Should you manage to hit a 1.9xx that means it is basically and *ALMOST* as good as using slicks.
And that really means that it is *ALMOST* as good a time as using slicks.

Re: EK9 jdmB18C-R wanting to hit 13's..............help!! (RagingAngel)
Werd, I had no confusion when I read RagingAngel's post. 2.2 is average for street tires. 2.1 - 2.0 on street tires takes major skillz and luck.
So as for the original poster wanting to hit 13's. First step would be to work on your 60 foot. It's not as easy as just rev'ving up and dropping the clutch. You have to modulate the clutch so that you don't peel out, but rather modulate it so that your car accelerates efficiently. That'll affect your quarter mile time the most. Once you get that down, you could consider going with lighter rims, removing the tar from your car, and what have you.

with my b18c r in my hatch and some bolt ons,ran a best ever 13.8 on slicks. Not THAT good imo...
Then I replaced the bottom end w/ a 2.0, everything else the same and would run the same time on street tires...Then going to slicks hit mid 13's..
I know you dont want to use slicks but this would probably be the easiest way to hit 13's. No offence, but your 60's are horrible. You need more TRACTION!
I within .3 of your 1/8thmile time and i usually can cut 2.2 60's...You should be able to hit 2.2-2.3 on street tires, and by judging your times that thing pulls mad for a 1.8, actually pulls harder than my 2.0l

Something must be wrong with my car because I only ran a 14.6@93 w/ a 2.2 60'.
My mods consist of...
B18C5
Hytech Header
Kteller 2.5 exhaust
Mugen Intake
Hondata S200 Untuned
All in a 92 Civic HB.

Do you have a graph of your dynochart and how much does your car weigh?
At what elevation is your track?

is this Eric?
if it is....dude you should be running better than that....i know your track sucks but damn dude
it sounds like there is a lot of restriction in the exhaust and intake.....you should be hitting into the13's easily depending on how light it is.

179/119. My car has full interior and it's a 1992 DX. I also weigh 220+ and I have beats in it. Elevation is 882 feet.
They have a guy here with like 200+ hp and he runs 12.6 w/ slicks.

Let's just assume that your car weighs 2600lbs with you in it since you are full interior'd. That's actually not a bad time.
I think if you were willing to try and pull some of your ICE out, you'd see your times drop considerably. I went 14.441 in my DC2, but I had the benefit of better elevation, pulled the same 60ft but weighed in at 2650lbs with me in it (140ish at the time). I made approx. the same dyno figures you did too.

Thanks for your contribution.... you didn't list anything relevant. What's your setup? What's the car's weight?

Re: (RagingAngel)
I wanna get in the 13's as well. My setup consist of an EK with a '97 JDM B18C-R
Shitty intake
Stock JDM Header
Jacked up 2.5 exhaust
tires i ran were falken azenis with a 2.2 60', i ran a 14.2 . I have my RMF header on the way, as well as a password jdm intake, haven't decieded on what exhaust to go for. Just wondering what other mods, without touching the bottom end, to get myself into the low 13's and high 12's.
Not tryin to hijack your thread or anything, but i'm a new-b too and i need some help! if you get your 60' down, you'll pull a lower time, your setup is almost the same as mine, good luck and anyone helping us THANKS!

i run 2.109 on 16" wheels and Falkien Azenis street tires. Run 1.972 on BFG G forces.
u should hit somewhere close to these. need to work on your launch. should get u somewhere in the mid to high 13s easy on street radials.
