Default Cut valve guides good for DD?

I just bought a fully ported RLZ race head but just realized that the valve guides were cut. The car will be daily driven with the weekend drag warrior spirit. I just want to know advantages and disadvantages to using cut guides and will it be ok for DD.

Are they flush with the port roof? If so, I wouldn't recommend it.
The shorter guide allows more axial movement of the valve which will wear the guides out much quicker which will lead to even more problems.
However, shorter guides do not disrupt airflow as much which would lead to better flow characteeristics.

could be worse, but it's generally not recommended to shorten the length of the guide

That is a race head. That is probably what you wanted as the CFM's are better. It also means more maintenance as all race car parts do. Short guides, more CFM's sometimes more BHP, shorter life. You got what you ordered, why question it now?

It's strange how peoples buy stuff w/o realizing what they are buying before hand.
To the OP, you seem to be pulling your head and rebuilding you block quit often any ways, I say use the head, and when it needs new guides or valves, throw some new ones in You seem to have the tools and knowlegde to pull the head and motor yourself so that is always a plus

how will I know when it needs new guides or valves before something devastating happens? I am rebuilding the whole engine as I am now putting in a Crower 92mm stroker kit with Endyne 85mm Rollerwaves .

The Helms manual tells how how to check this for stock heads. This will give you an idea of what is normal. Use this as a guide/good starting point. Otherwise you won't even have the proper terminology or background to even talk to someone knowledgeable such as a DonF or gansta teenage H-T engine builder.

Before we start throwing Rlz name around please make sure this is a true Rlz head. If it is it should have the Rlz insigna on it.

Have you contacted Brad about it? Not that he should really be concerned about a 2nd hand purchase, but sometimes, all is not how it seems at first glance.

Congrats on your 1000th post, Brad. If I go to PRI, I will get you a double shot of Jack Daniels on me. Then we can go pig out on some million calorie chinese food once we're all primed and ready.
