Default B16A motor

I recently picked up a B16A long block. Prev Owner said was JDM, so how do I tell if its OBD0 or OBD1? Some fo the research Ive done says thats alternator and distributor dependant. I just to know what Ive got for sure.

Look at the year that is stamped on the head. it should be near the head gasket in the front.

You should be able to check the fan switch to see if it is on the back of the block or the thermostat housing. If it is OBD1, the plug will be two pins sticking out the back of the block to the left of the oil filter location. Another way is to look at the pistons. OBD0 will be PR3, OBD1 will be P30.

I don't understand why this is becoming so complicated. Look at the year it was made.

The pic with the double prong is from an OBD0 block, the one with the bolt/plugs in the same location is from an OBD1 block I have.

If it is 92, then it is an OBD-1 engine, assuming that the block is the same year.
