B16 with 75 shot of nitrous video

"I'm not really impressed.. Doing this on public streets? At least you posted a video at the track too.
This is a technical forum.
What is in your post that makes you think this should be posted here?
There is nothing. Locked"
So I moved it here, why wouldn't this be posted here? It's a forum about cars.

Bottom end has ARP rod bolts and forged CP pistons. I wouldn't recommend using nitrous on a stock engine.

What is your compression ratio? What mods are done to the cylinder head? Also how many passes do you get per bottle?
Pretty good time for a full interior coupe on street tires.

Compression ratio is stock, head is ported, has aftermarket cams, springs/retainers, one piece valves. I get about 18 passes. 60 bucks to fill up my 10lb bottle

You can run nitrous on a stock motor safely, it's no different than a modded motor, you just have to use common sense.
When I had a B16a2 in my car and was running a 75hp shot of nitrous, the best times I had was a 13.98 at 102.4 mph in my full weight 00 SI coupe. Now my nitrous system didn't have a bottle heater at that time so I'm sure I was getting less than 75 whp but when I dyno'd it, I put down 212 whp and 175tq SAE on a dynojet (145 whp 102 tq without nitrous). That works out to be close to 75hp at the wheels. Either your car is a lot lighter than mine or you're running a bigger nitrous shot than 75hp.

Re: B16 with 75 shot of nitrous video
It would last as long as a built engine because if it's melting pistons, it doesn't matter how you built the thing, it isn't going to last very long. Many people run superchargers or turbos on stock blocks and that puts a lot more stress on an engine than nitrous does, so out of all the FI options, nitrous would be the easiest on an engine. Dropping valves has nothing to do with running nitrous or boost either. Many people drop valves on all motor cars for mostly the same reasons as they do on FI cars.
Your engine may have been built stronger in the bottom end but if it had the same compression as stock, the extra power you would have made over mine, would have come from the top end as my head and cams were stock at that time. However, on a B16a, those things wouldn't have been worth more than 20 whp (I'm being generous). Even if it was, that 20 extra whp wouldn't be enough to explain the differences in time and MPH. My car weighed 2617 lbs with me in it and a half tank of gas back when I ran those times.
