Re: 85mm on b20 stock sleeves (the g2 teg)
People have cracked the stock 84mm sleeves. B20's are a waste of time if you ask me, but no matter what you end up doing tuning is the key.

I'm running 84.5mm bore stock sleeves, seen 9000rpm several times only 730 something miles on the engine and a basic street tune to run everything rich so I won't detonate. No problems yet.

Yeah that's what I said. They are worthless for boost and people crack the sleeves with high c/r all motor setups as well. Tuning helps, but the design of the sleeves just suck.

Re: (2.2motore)
I think 85mm is pushing it. I know a friend of mine ran 84mm stock sleeves with 13.1 compression and block guard for about 3 years(~35,000miles) with no problems.

Re: (Felix.)
i have seen stock sleeves hold 9000+rpms with 12:1+ compression for extended amounts of time (like 300+engine dyno pulls)
i have seen boosted 300+whp stock b20 sleeves hold for 20K miles.
i believe omnimans original B20 lasted 40K+miles
hardly a WASTE of time.
85mm, im not sure about that. 84.5mm is the biggest i have seen on stock b20sleeves

While I disagree about the blocks being a complete waste, he does have valid points. I just think for simple street motors: lower boost, or mild compression and a good tune on either setup, is key.
If someone desires a cost effective 200whpish motor, they are just fine.
Back to topic, please dont further compromise the integrity of the sleeves on these motors by overboring them. I'm not even a fan of a slight overbore on them. Even a helms manual says to junk them after they become out of round.

I agree. A simple B20 swap is a GREAT swap if all you want is a good, streetable torque. And such a motor can last a REALLY long time. Mine is still going strong after almost four years of hard use.

Re: 85mm on b20 stock sleeves (sa90eg)
I ran 85mm JE 10.5:1 piston on stock b20 sleeves. I didn't rev past 8200 though.
The walls are thin and the RS ratio produces large side wall loads so I'd keep the revs well below 9k.
Only problem with running 85mm is that you can't bore anymore out. You'll have to resleeve the block after.
Good luck.

I've seen a few boosted b20s do fine. I wouldn't push the limits though. 10psi daily is plenty with the proper turbo and a good tune.
