Thinking about Buying a TL.
IT's time for an upgrade. Gonna keep the crx for weekend driving/fun. I really like the TL. I'd like to find myself a TL-S if I can find a good price on one. USed of course, but anyway, on to my question...
What suspension upgrades are available. First thing I want to do to it is drop it about 1.5-2". I would like to retain the stock ride (comfort)on it, if any of the companies actually make a kit with stock spring rates.
Can anyone offer suggestions as to what year to purchase?
tia!

well, TL-S only came in 02-03 model years.. I would try to shoot for an 03 model if at all possible.. There seem to be fewer 03's with failing transmissions compared to 02's.. yes, 03 failed as well but its lower in comparision to 02's. As far as lowering the vehicle, there's the typical aftermarket spring manufacturers offering coilovers and lowering springs. Lowering the TL and maintaining the luxery stock ride comfort don't really go hand in hand.. you will sacrifice some of the stock smoothness for a stiffer lowering spring.

hmm, thanks for that info. Yea I figured it would be a litle stiffer. I just dont want it to ride like the Ksports on my crx with 10K/8K spring rates.

H&R sport springs are a relatively cheap drop, with a desent ride. Otherwise there seems to be a lot of TL's on Tein SS/Basics. I'm on some H&R sports and KYB GR-2's which aren't too bad. Decent drop as well.

Well, the '07's come in the Type-S trim. 286hp 3.5L V6 + 6-sp. tranny
I've been thinking about the TL, as well. Anyone know if they took care of the transmission problem with the 04+?
Also, 20/29 MPG isn't shabby at all.

04+ is supposed to be fix but I dont know. The Accords had the same issues and the tranny's were supposed to be fine for the 7th gen Accords but there have been a few cases already. Honda did however design new auto tranny's so I dont know how those hold up yet or if they have been put into the newer cars.
I think Comptech is overpriced for their springs and most other parts. Id say just get some GC's and Koni yellow's.

well, I wouldnt be looking for great performance from the suspension. Maybe slightly better than stock. Main goal would be appearance.

you want the TL S performance without the TL S insurance? get a 04 or newer model....more HP and cheaper insurance...just recently the 07 type S is out but that'll set you back at least 42K by the time you pay taxes and plate fees

nah, I was talkin about the suspension. I dont want a harsh ride. I would still like it to be as luxurious as possible while having the lowered stance.

If you guys want, check out my old posts with pics of my car. I went through Eibach prokit, sportline, and finally settled on a set of Ksport coilovers. I loved the ksports and was pleased with the performance and adjustment capabilities. But I'm actually in the process of selling my TL w/ Navi and Oem lip kit - already parted out the coilovers so yea. The TL honestly is a great car - the thing got heat. I'm selling it because i wanna save up for a S500/Lexus GS haha, so now i bought myself a db8 in the mean time

I looked at all your old posts, but none of them say which suspension is what on your tl. You got pictures identifying which springs are on it at the time? Looks good btw.
