My TL has 165K miles. Oil jet kit was installed during the 2004 recall. Transmission fluid has been flushed many times over the years as my mechanic says it's always dirty. Recently the car may shudder at times but only going uphill around 25-40 mph, and intermittently. Mechanic found no error codes and couldn't reproduce the shudder. I took the car to an Acura dealer who scanned and came back with P1740 code -Problem in 4th Clutch Pressure Switch Circuit and said transmission needs to be replaced to the tune of $6200!


There has been no flashing lights on the dash and the car drives fine most of the time. Is it just a matter of time before the tranny goes or can it be salvaged? Could replacing the 4th gear pressure switch do any good?

It could be a stuck valve, I've read up on this issue where a valve would be stuck closed and fluid wasn't getting to where it needed to be. Yes a rebuild will be needed or buy another one and have your mechanic replace it.
