2002 3.2 type-s swap issues
i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes... i did a swap on my 02 accord from the j30a1 to a j32a2 out of an 02 tl type-s. on the motor i have a cold air intake and full exhaust. first-off, the motor is amazing! nuff said! i had to put the intake manifold from the 3.0 on because the tranny and my computer wouldn't work with the 3.2's manifold (wasn't programmed for the "butterflies" in the manifold). i guess my first question is: would it be better for me to just swap the tranny too? second, the 4spd auto is very strong and i'm happy with it, should i, and where could i, reprogram the computer to work with both the tranny and manifold or should i get the computer from a 2001 3.2 (01 had a 4spd, 02 had a 5spd)? and last, how do i tune the motor? i haven't had ANY luck finding a program and neither has anyone else i've talked to. this motor is capable of putting out lots of power, i just need a push in the right direction!

your best bet is to find a 2003 acura cl-s 6 spd.
get the engine harness, ECU, and transmission from that.
that should take care of your issues, but however, the j32 auto is different from the j32 6 spd, i believe some parts on the head have to be changed out for it to work correctly.

i'd like to get the 5spd auto, etc. out of a tl-s. it's not that i don't want the 6, i just want this to cruise. but, nonetheless, your info is greatly appreciated and i'll probably take your advice on the tranny, harness, and ecu. that motor is honda's best kept secret, amazing! no one ever believes me when i tell them what kind of power it puts out. thanks!
the 4 spd won't work with the type-s ecu, thanks though.
i'll post pics here soon.

the 4spd autos only came in the 99tl (j32a1). the 5spd autos were in the 00-03 tl (j32a1 and j32a2) but those trans have problems. what i would do is get the 6spd manual trans from the 03 cl type s (j32a2 only) u will also need some more parts, like a new starter, cranks sensor, ...
heres the link to what u need. also look on this forum, 4 ppl have done the 6spd swap on the tl. lots of helpful and knowledgeable ppl on their

You used a 4spd auto with the a2 motor? Why??
Find a CLS6 trans and get the 3.7 TL Intake manifold, you will be good to go

I've heard lots of good things about that 2009 TL manifold. You just need the adapter plate that P2R sells. As for the auto/manual ... I'd go manual if possible. However, I've never done an auto swap.
