Re: what brand motor oil do you guys use? (redINTEGRAdriver)
it looks like mobil 1 and hamp oil filters. what about neo oil? what wt. 5w30. I called honda because mobil one only comes in 0w30 and 5w30. Honda said do not use anything but 5w20. So I am using valvoline 5w20 but I really want to switch to mobil one or neo 5w30. So can you guys help me out? They say that the 5w30
is to thick for the k series. The tolerences are very tight, also do you guys know what hamp filter I need for the 2002 ep3 k series? The small one or big one? What fluid are you guys putting in the tranny? I have heard alot about grinding but I think it might be some of the drivers. I have grinded mine in second a couple of times so when I go to shift I just take a little more time and no grind. I have heard of people using GM or penzoil syncro mesh and they say no more grinds any truth. I wanted to get neo mtf. Or should I just stick with genuine honda mtf?

Well for my EVO I have to put in Synthetic. Mobil 1 is good, but for my car I put in Royal Purple for everything that requires oil. Royal Purple is a VERY good brand

I use Royal Purple on both my RSX and my Element. Was using redline till my friends work stopped selling it. Not sure which is better but I know there up there. Gonna have to start getting ahold of some Amsoil from the owner of top street.

Mobil 1 comes in 5W-20 now. You should be able to find it at Autozone.

They always had it, it was labeled as Mobil 1 0W20.

Re: (Mr02K20)
Most grades of street Royal Purple (which is not 100% synthetic, BTW) will thin out rather quickly. They do this to free up horsepower which is normally lost to hydrodynamic resistance ... 'pumping losses.' I don't use it because there are better choices available.
Mobil 1 is good stuff ... especially their latest version. Yes, it was available as a 0W-20 for a while but I guess it is being re-labelled as a 5W-20 to eliminate confusion.
I'm not a fan of Mobil 1 and other 'high-efficiency' oil filters as in some applications they are too restrictive. It is very hard to tell if this is happening, however.
I currently use Schaeffer oil ... Supreme 7K synthetic blend. Right now I'm running their 5W-30 mixed with some Mobil 1 0W-30 because of the extreme cold we get around here in winter.
As for manual tranny lubes, I always liked Red Line MTL for Hondas. Guys in the hotter, southern states can mix the thin Red Line MTL about 50/50 with the thicker Red Line MT-90 for more protection. The two fluids are similar chemically, with the MT-90 a thicker GL4 75W-90.
You can also try either MTL-P or Synchroglide from Specialty Formulations:
http://www.specialtyformulations.com/
The difference between the two is weight/thickness.
Honda MTF is OK ... but it's essentially over-priced SF or SG 10W-30 motor oil. There are better fluids available.
