is that one of those stupid ford focus hatch looking civic si's? lol i don't really know much about them, but if it is one i am willing to bet they did it because that k20 in that car blows. they will probably get better tuning capabilities out of the b18.

Re: thought you guys might be interested in this.......
probably just my work filter.
Is this swap legal in the UK?
Also, you guys call them ep2's? In North America, I'm pretty sure all the civic Si's (yes the ones that look like mini-vans) are called ep3's.
Seems like a lot of customizing and work to just put a b series in a car that's already set up for a k series motor...shrug.

^as far as im aware is should be perfectly legal, just providing it passes the emissions test for the yearly MOT (vehcile inspection)
as for chasis codes, the UKDM EP2 is basically a 1.6 d-series equipped CTR look a like, where as the EP3 chassis here is our UKDM CTR , we also had EP1's which are 1.4's, and 5 door hatch versions as well, but they look lame!, EM2's werent all the popular over here, people are just starting to mod them!
agreed that its seems pointless, a k-swap would of actually been a cheaper ans far better alternative, though the guy reckons its cheaper to insure it this way than having the K in there!, beats me!

I dont get it...Y would you take out the k20 for a b18..they dont make motor mounts so they must be making custom ones...Just seems like a lot of work for what..just to be different? but its cool to see...thats for sure

Just from watching Top Gear and Fifth Gear, insurance seems to be a big deal in the UK.
So I'm assuming the EP2 is an OBDI car?

Re: thought you guys might be interested in this.......
wow you seem to know a lot about UKDM Honda's. Honestly, I've never heard this stuff before. Good info
I pay $110 (Canadian) total a month for my 04 civic and 88 CRX. Both stock motors though. I'm not sure what happens to insurance here when you swap a motor.
That's a pretty cool project then. Are there any links to the build?

I guess the insurance issue has to do with one being 1.8L and the k20 being a 2.0. Motorcycle insurance is like that 1000cc = more money. It wouldnt be "legal" here in the states being the motors older than the car its going into being that looks to be an 04-05 model anyways

there are no links to the build unfortunately, it was one picture that was posted by someone that had walked into the shop that was doing the swap, then the owner piped up and said he had more photo's of it than he did! ha ha, though as i say, apparently accordin to the owner it will be completed in the next few weeks, so, i will forward the pics on once they appear!

well let say that if i wanted insure an UKDM EP3 CTR, im 25 (good age for insurance) it would proberly cost me about £700-£800 quid a year (so equivilent to approx $1000 us dollars on current exhange rate) but there as so many veriables as to cost, but i suppose that like all insurance companies!!

Re: thought you guys might be interested in this.......
Well, it's not that bad since the car didn't have a K in it to begin with...that would have made it pretty retarded. I think it's ok, might have better city fuel economy. But it won't be as fast as a K...6 speed and 5-10lbft of torque makes a difference. Not to mention stock K's usually make a little more peak hp over stock B18C5's (from what I've seen).
Never really seen a dyno from a B18C6 though...
