Steering Wheel Squeak?
This is for an '02 EP-3. Does anyone else have this? It is intermitant and seems to do it more after long highway stretches. It seems like the plastic is rubbing or something where the wheel connects to the ignition column. Any suggestions or comments?

Nothing like that over here, with 24,000 miles on it.
Some of the DC2 ITR people complain of something similar, but I don't have that problem on my ITR, either.
If nobody has any suggestions, you might want to search archived posts in the ITR Forum for how those guys found and solved the problem.

Re: Steering Wheel Squeak? (George Knighton)
Thanks for the suggestions.
The squeak has actually been going on for a while. I think it started around 25,xxx
miles or so. I was going to take it to the dealer but I am so busy and live about 100 miles away from the closest one. I am now at about 63,500 miles so warranty won't help me now. From reading the posts in the link, it sounds like most dealers don't know how to fix the problem anyway.
I am going to try spraying some silicoln lubricant in between the wheel and the column. Any reasons why I shouldn't do this?

at lexus that squeak is a common problem with the new models, we end up replacing the whole turn signal switch assembly since the spiral cable inside goes bad.

some have found that the stock strut dust boot is rubbing on the spring seat causing the squeak. simply pulling down on the dust boot removes the squeak, but would seem temporary. a more permanent solution should be found. i haven't tried it yet on mine, maybe this weekend.
