Default RSX ECU in EP3

Hey all

recently someone tried boosting my car. They failed at hotwiring it, so they took the ECU (and my subs).

Ive got the car at my friends house, but it's not driveable.

Was wondering if I could use an RSX base model MT ECU TEMPORARILY to move it to get glass replaced.

Thanks for any insight.

The immobilizer won't let you run it without having it reprogrammed at Honda/Acura first.

Key + ECU must match for the car to start.

correct about the immobilizer

plus you'll be throwing engine lights cause the base rsx has those stupid dual runners in the intake manifold. Not sure if that would effect drivability.

I would try to beg a buddy with k-pro to borrow his ecu quick

Guess i'm SOL then, no one i know has kpro.

Would I be able to buy an RSX ecu and have it reprogrammed @ the dealer for my application?

By the way, thanks so much for all the info

I'm not sure to be honest. Try to find a replacement PNF ecu.

I'd be on the lookout for a PNF ecu in the classifieds, people don't sell EP3 ecu's very often. You might see yours for sale and you can buy it back!

j/k I hate thieves, sorry to hear about your whip. Why don't you file a claim with insurance??

For real? I thought the base RSX had a plastic intake manifold, while the EP3 has a cast one. Aka two different intake manifolds.

Only the base RSX and the base k24 engines have that plastic IM as far as I know, not my EP :]

I'm pretty sure the EP3s utilize the same design, hence the "vtec crossover" point of 2200rpm designed for economy.

I have an illustration on my computer at home, I'll post it later...

but why would they use a black plastic for the rsx and metal for the ep3. VTEC crossover is the same economy probably cause they both have the half vtec setup lol. From the book I have I believe the base rsx makes more power than the ep3 because of the dual runner intake manifold. But not by much

the ep3 uses a k20a2(type s) intake manifold and the base rsx uses the plastic one. thats why the rsx has slightly higher low end tq but the si is faster at higher rpms

I wouldn't pay that much for that ecu. Try ephatch.com
