RSX aftermarket coilovers
sup h-t...
i was planning to buy some coilovers for my dc5 and i see three options...
skunk2 coilover set for dc5 -- ~$250.00
tein basic coilover kit -- ~$800.00
megan racing coilover kit -- ~$800.00
as you can tell, these price differences are substantial and i was wondering if there a big ride difference between the tein basics, megan racing, and skunk2 coilovers. i would rather spend 250 instead of 800 if the ride and reliability is similar...plz leave me your feedback ..thnx

For a DD I would suggest looking into a good set of springs, they are cheaper, will give you a decent drop and the ride quailty isn't sacrificed as much.
If you get a full set of bumpdampning coilovers like the Tein or Megan you get pillow ball mounts which is a stiffer ride for racing purposes and will sacrifice more ride quality.
As far as the skunk2 I am going to leave those alone as I don't know as much about sleve style coilovers.
It really comes down to what is comfortable/tolerable to you.

Re: RSX aftermarket coilovers (neeks)
DIY homes. clubrsx.com has a DIY thread that will give you a run through on how to do it. For just springs, yeah all you need is the springs. Google my friend. there are many websites out there. to name a few:
jhpusa.com
kamispeed.com
wotm.com
clubrsx.com
summitracing.com
kingmotorsports.com
and many more.
Don't be narrow to the Teins, they are good but they might not be up your alley. Do some more homework, even though it is a bitch search through here (look at the top right corner), and ask around and see what other people think of what they got. The message board at clubrsx is chocked full of good info.
Don't listen to everything I just said, let this thread mellow a bit and see what other people think. I am only one opinion.

For a daily driver, I'd recommend you go for a cheap set of springs... maybe the Eibachs on clubRSX.com.
Springs are fairly easy to install if you have a set of tools and a free afternoon. I would never pay money for someone else to work on my car

how long did you have your s-techs? did you ever blow a strut? because i already blew mine on stock springs...i guess i was taking some turns too hard

Re: (808DC5R)
well if anyone gets some springs for their ride, i have some koni yellows forsale brand new( see my sig ), and you can slip those springs right over those and you'd get a way better ride!
but in my opinion like most people said the spring/shock combo would be best for DD, but i auto x, and DD so i chose to go with Buddy Club N+'s, and i havent had any problems with them yet! but thats a little more then i think your willing to spend.

Re: (02_IT-S)
I have the Tein SS coilovers for my DD and I love it. You are going to have to replace the Struts at some point anyway so I dont see why you would want to do the same thing twice. Well I guess money is a huge reason But the decision is all yours. I was in the position to do it all at once so I just did it that way, but springs will only run you about $300 bucks or so compared to a set of coilovers for more than double.

THEY SUCK!!!
I heard Megan Racing coilovers suck as well.
Gold line sleeve overs are great for the price. Not so much a bouncy ride, Quite comfortable with a great drop
I heard H&R Springs are great too.

I've asked two RSX owners cuz I was looking for some coilovers, and both of them replied to me stating that the Ride is total garbage and that it was a very harsh ride

i heard the same thing...i heard a lot of good things about the tein basics coilovers, for auto X and dd...
i used to have the tein s-techs on my em2, i had no complaints but my stock struts blew so i didnt really get the full potential of the ride

installation usually goes for about 80-110 depending on where you go, i have a shop i go to that does any big job for me for a straight bill (still pricey...).
but like meimei said, its fairly easy to install

I believe the Eibach Sportlines drop it around 1.5"? I'm personally not a big fan of the slammed look though...
Or you could always just hack your springs off with a hack saw. I heard that works really well.
