Has anyone tried the single piston 96 Rl caliper upgrade?
Hi,
I have a 2003 Civic si ep3 w/k20a2. It's 80% track focused but I love to drive it on the weekend. I have original 4x100 stock calipers and rotors fronts with hp+ and rear pads hp. Also have ss lines.
I purchased 96 Acura RL 57mm single piston calipers and had a machine shop re drill 300mm tax rotors to 4x100. The ss brake lines have the same part number. I'm told in order to make the calipers for and everything bolt up correctly you have to shave 3mm off the backside of the rotor. I have searched and searched and haven't found much about this OEM bbk upgrade. Has anyone tried this? I figure I'll give it a go first slowly filing material off with a hand file. And measure with digital calipers.
Worst case I mess it up and buy 2 new brackets and have a machine shop do it. Anyone tried this with success. It would be almost a 4cm larger rotor a 4ishmm larger piston diameter and a much larger contact patch between the pads and rotors. Thanks 🙏

Well thanks for all the help guys super polite and amazing accurate feedback! Haven't found a friendlier forum yet. Just a wealth of knowledge I gained from posting this question. Don't know what I would do without myself because no one f***k**g helped me. Either none of you know. Or you are a bunch of c***s who don't actually want to open a discussion, or maybe even teach a younger guy trying to get into motorsports.
Just amazing support. I got wilwood forged dynalites 4 pots with 12.19" plain rotors and a 4x100 hat with a 262mm bracket compatible with my OEM rotor size. So basically I got this whole kit brand new for $400 cad ftw!
Don't worry I will never use this forum as a resource again even though I could have thought all you 262mm guys and eg and Ek guys how to run a 5mm larger piston with a 300mm rotor with a 35% larger brake pad surface. Oh well I guess you all know it anyway. So once again thanks everyone and f**k you!! 😘
