Picked up a new ride. Problems.
Picked up an 02 RSX-S last night. I noticed that it had a CEL. The guy seemed pretty honest to me and told me that its been on every since hes had it and the previous owner told him it was the o2. Well when I test drove it, I noticed that it felt a little funny, but I didn't really get on it.
Anyways, I get back home with it, and took it to the Honda Stealership here, and pulled the codes. Its a P0341 and the front o2.
I noticed when driving it today, the car feels down on power and is definitely in limp mode, but it feels "okay" when not under a large load. When you mash on the gas pretty hard, it feels like its running really rich. Then when you get in the upper rpms right before where Vtec is supposed to engage, you can feel a definite loss in power and can feel it fall right on its face, almost like a huge boost leak.
We pulled up the code and it gave the CPS, but then it also had a stickied thread on their tech page that was talking about the VTC in the ECU needed to be updated, but then there was also another slew of problems that I've been reading on about the P0341.
Money is definitely tight right now, so I'm going to be getting a Bosch Univ. o2 sensor, so could someone provide me with some detailed instructions on the pins and everything? Also some direct information that I could relay to Acura so they're not just twittling their thumbs and running up the service bill on money that I don't have?

Also - just because the ECU is throwing a code for an o2 sensor doesn't mean the o2 sensor is actually the problem.
Why would you buy a car that drove like **** when you could feel it had power loss?
Give us more details man, mileage, maintenance history, mods, etc. You're already spending money on parts without knowing the root of the problem.

primary O2 is a wideband on those cars, that bosch universal O2 probably wont work if the code is for a primary oxygen sensor

No, I was just giving a comparison as to how it felt. Its NA. 02 RSX-S, 150k, K&N SRI and Greddy Exhaust.
It said on the diagnostic that it was the front primary o2 sensor that was bad. So looks like I'm screwed in to having to purchase an OE o2? I havent purchased anything yet.

Re: Picked up a new ride. Problems.
Picked up an OE o2 and going to be installing in a few when it cools down..
How ever, talking to Acura here is like finding out you have herpes.. They are so illiterate and will not let me speak with a tech on the phone. They want me to bring it in and let them take a look at it and plug it up to their diagnostic for 99 bucks, for what I already know what the code is.
The same thing was told me, check your timing "its probably out of time" well if thats the case, why does it start right up, run smooth with no jerking, hesitation, or stalling? Then they said that the chain might be loose, and I've talked to a few people with K's and they said if it was loose, you would hear the chain slapping around or making funny noises and it isn't.
Which then kind of leaves me back at the discovery at Honda yesterday, the ECU... They have asked me if Vtec is engaging, and it isn't, right where the transition is, it wants to "hang up" and doesn't want to hit the transition freely, it will climb through the rpms, but very slowly...but will free rev through them. Then when we cleared the p0341 yesterday, it came right back, even with the car off.. Then when we went in the shop, punched in the code in the Honda system, it brought up a stickied thread talking about the VTC in the ECU needing to be updated..
Have any of you heard about the VTC needing to be updated? It apparently seems pretty common for it to be a stickied thread in their service section.

And this other dude from CRSX is right in line with what I've been saying, even though you don't seem to listen..
I like how all you ****tards say fix the o2 first, I would see wtf is wrong with cam position sensor first before anything else (P0341). Running on a jumped timing/ stretch chain/ ****ed up sensor can result in a catastrophic engine failure. I mean ****ed up o2 ecu will automatically dumped more fuel as a fail safe preventing you from running lean but doesnt harm the engine as much as the Cam position sensor.
ECU rarely has problems, the reason why it came back on so quickly either it is not reading from the sensor or timing can be slightly off.

(reserving this post so I can laugh at you when you still have an o2 sensor code after you replace it with a new OE sensor)

Re: Picked up a new ride. Problems.
Theres limited amounts that you can do when you're at work and the nearest dealership is 30 minutes away and wont be able to get to it till sometime the week after next. So yeah I'm starting with something that needs to be fixed that I can do myself..
Now, we got the sensors mixed up, we thought it was the primary but it was bank one sensor two and not sensor one.. Do I still need to replace the second sensor with the OE lambada or is it a different one?

Re: Picked up a new ride. Problems.
So I was right all along.. It was the CMP and the o2 sensor. Thank you.
How ever, I took it for a ride after fixing it and it threw a p0325 which it never did before and I didn't even come any where near the knock sensor. I reset the ECU but it still came back on.
Anyways I also found this, is this guy supposed to be hooked up to a vac. source?

Re: Picked up a new ride. Problems.
Is there any way to bypass the knock sensor like this thread on a RSX?

everything in your picture looks fine.. that cap is made that way in case of damper rupture. never bypass the knock sensor on a stock ecu car.

I wasn't wanting to completely bypass it, I was wanting to keep the CEL off a few days until I get paid and can get a new knock sensor.

Re: Picked up a new ride. Problems.
thats not worth even trying to bypass it, your knock sensor is very important if u have a stock ecu. with out it the car cant read knock and use its built in tables to correct the load situation and prevent your motor from detonating.

Re: Picked up a new ride. Problems.
Turboteg, why don't you stop posting in my thread? You have contributed absolutely nothing to my problems. You say I'm replacing parts without knowing what's wrong. Ummm... okay? Its showing that I was throwing a p0341 which is the cmp, then another which is the o2 secondary. Replaced those and guess what? Its not throwing those codes. Then its throwing the knock sensor malfunction which my knock sensor is broke in half.. nope you're right, I'm replacing parts just for ***** and giggles.
