Default my experience with the new 06 civic si

i just wanted to let you guys about my experience driving the new civic si. i had the chance to drive it at the civic live tour in san francisco at monster park. honda had set-up a small track course for people to test drive. it was lots of fun.

personally, i'm not a big fun of the looks of the new si. it might be because i just need time for it to grow on me. performance wise it was great. it had good engine response and good handling. better performance than rsx-s in my opinion, even though i like the rsx look more. the interior was kinda wierd to me. it was very high tech. it had a digital speedometer like the s2000, but it was placed like in the middle of the dash. the tachometer was also digital, which was cool but kinda hard to see. besides that the car was comfortable.

if you have any question about the car please let me know. i can try to help as much as possible.

engine & handling: very responsive. brakes perfect. lsd works!!!

interior & exterior: seat is lower, better for the taller guys. accessories perfect. exterior sucks!!!

I'm sure that will be something for the track to determine as accurate as his butt dyno may or may not be!

I checked out one of the videos on TOV of the new Si and looked like it had a shift light in the top tier guage cluster next to the speedometer. A little light that came on when the revs were getting close to the 8k mark. Is this in fact a shift light? If it is, I think that was a great idea to put that in.

simpson, i have not driven a stock itr before, so i can't say anything. all i can say is that the lsd is great and for a stock car it handles really well. you can always buy aftermarket parts for a civic, integra, rsx or whatever and it will be better, but for a stock car the si is pretty good. i think if you want to keep your car stock this will be a great car to drive around town and maybe even alittle weekend autoXing.

i don't know if the si is "faster" than the rsx-s. what i said was that the si performed better overall. also, these are only my opinions from my experience.

yes, there is a shift light. i'm sorry i didn't mention it. the interior is very neat, i guess i'm just old-fashion.

dude where did you get the 100 lbs less then a type s, also when did the type s have the same hp then the type s? last time i recalled the type s has like 201 hp while the si has 197, i know its not much of a difference but its not the same.

and about the weight, the ex civic couple weights: 2701 lbs
rsx type s weights: 2840
now that is 139 lbs difference
now when the si comes out it will have a bit heaver engine and much more amenities then the ex, i am pretty sure the si will weight more.

before you put facts like that out make sure you have done your homework.

one other thing, for you people that will be getting the new si, its going to be funny with some of you that have that jdm fever when you realize that the civic in japan lookes different and much more better looking imo. yes they only have the 4 door version, and rumor has it that the new type r will be the 5 door hatch. remember kids all type r's have been hatches:
integra type r's (yes they are considered a hatch)
civic type r's
fit type r's (5 door hatch)

man i dont like the whole everyone jumping on to the whole 06 si bandwagon. coupes that are honda's haha
coupes that are luxury (bmw, mb, etc)
i love my ep3. hahaa.

^^ wtf? the JDM civic looks like ****.

Coupes sell better in USA and even though the new si is as long as the accord it still looks better than a 5-door hatch.

First of all, the looks department is completely subjective, and I personally think the JDM Civic looks even more like a Saturn than our USDM version. Plus, now that we'll have a JDM DC5 LSD, mated with a 6-spd and a sweet 200bhp K-series, what "jdm junky" stuff could you possibly want? Suede seats w/ red stitching? Got 'em! How about a Euro-R Accord shift ****? Got it!

The only JDMness I still need is DC5-R wheels...

Also, I see you love your hatchbacks and are ignornatly saying that all Type R's are hatches, but what about us little Accord guys!?

The NSX Type R wasn't really a hatch either, unless you consider the engine as the trunk...

Summary: No need for JDM, we already have our Type-R and it's coming out December 1st. Also, the Accord Type R and NSX Type R weren't hatches.

You know I dont dislike the fg2, I just really like hatches. Not to mention I think this Civic got bigger again. The Civics are almost as big as old Accords.

he did not say 100 lbs less than a type-s but rather

it is a little confusing to read though, the way he put it. But non the less, he said the truth. And as far as the same power thing, Si 197hp out of the new rating system i would say is darn close to the 200 the old (02-04) Type-S has with the old rating system. Either way, 197, 200, 201, 210 is all close enough to the same for me.

I 100% agree. The DBW throttle was terrible, one of the worst ive driven 2nd only to the worst ive driven, which was a 05 mbz c230 kompressor. The engine felt dead in 1st, 2nd and 3rd were where all the magic happened. Handling felt decent, but it definitely cemented my decision to go with a secondhand s2000.

well, i think for a new car in the $20,000 price range it performed great. most civics and integras won't perform that well unless modded.

yeah, get the s2000. it's way better than the new civic si. to me, used cars are always more worth it than new cars. but then it's nice to have a new car which is only yours.
