K20a2 longblock (no 6speed trans) on a ep3?
Hi new here but not new on honda/acura scene, anyways i would like to swap a k20a2 on my ep3 ive read the sticky /and search in google on what i need to swap a k20a2 w/trans on a ep3 but i never heard how to swap (using the 5speed trans )
This is all the info i gathered from searching
Ep3 idler
Ep3 s belt
Use ep3 wiring harness (do i need to wire it to adapt to vtec on a k20a2?)
Use ep3 flywheel/clutch
I need a ecu for the a2 swap and go to honda dealer to get the keys to wrkand for smog purposes later on ( and get my ep3 ecu kpro and tine / move vtec lower so it wont drop under vtec every shift)
The rest just R&R?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Save the $$$$ on the PRB ECU and the dealer programmed immobilizer bypass/marriage. You will not need a K20A2 ECU... just spend a few extra bucks and get KPro for your EP3 ECU and use an A2 tune/calibration. This will serve you far better in the long run... especially if you have, or intend to add in the future, aftermarket parts like I/H/E or forced induction. The only circuit missing from the EP3 ECU when compared to the A2 ECU is the reverse lock-out solenoid for the six speed transmission... and since you are using the EP3 five speed, this is NOT necessary.

Ok so ill just get a longblock .
So just use everything from the a3 (all the sensors, harness etc) and stick it to the a2 longblock correct?
Thank you sir i appreciate the help.

With 5 speed tranny, its a straight drop-in. Use k20a2 wiring harness. Since you are removing the engine, this is the best time to also change your motor mounts, don't go cheap, and best time to upgrade the clutch and flywheel. With the k20a2 conversion you will need to use an RSX type-s headers; 2.5 inches vs. 2.25 inches. I am using a kpro, which makes everything easier.
For me, the A/C pump did not fit due to the subframe. Also the power-steering pump off the k20a2 is not needed, I used K-tuned EP3 pulley kit, The belt did not work for me personally, I used a 51 inch 7 ribbed belt. Also the k20a2 uses a RBC intake manifold stock (larger). This can be a fitment issue due to the fact it rests against the front radiator support.
The best way is to slightly bend the rear radiator support out.
On the k20a2 engine harness, you will not need to use the coolant temperature plug to the radiator, the EP3 does not use it. Minor charging harness plugs were modified to fit on the K20a2.
Honestly, worth it, time consuming, but worth it. It took about twice as long as we thought, 4-6 hours turned into 12 hours.

Already it is a tight squeeze. The rbc intake manifold rests against the radiator support, which you have to push out.
If you want to run A/C, I would recommend running a Skunk2 or other intake manifold that is less long. Also you might need to modify the subframe to fit the A/C compressor. I did not try due to the fact that when I bought the EP3 shell the A/C lines w/ condenser was already missing.
