just bought a new civic for my girlfriend.. some questions?????
hi im new here, even though apparently i signed up years ago and never posted.
well today we just got a 2005 civic lx for my girlfriend. she traded in her 96 beater finally. first i wanna say that im a VW guy, and have never owned a honda, so i dont know much about them. i gotta say i was impressed with the overall quality of the new civics. the fit and finish is real nice, and the interior materials are lookin better than my vw, which a couple years ago was pretty high up there for its class. this is definitely a nice car and an even nicer car for the money.
we looked at scion first, because its the new **** you know.... but the best financing we could get was 5% and it wouldve been close to 20k after tax.
the main question i have is about the price we got the car for. after all the negotiating, the final price was 15,200, +1200 in tax so a final of 16,400. we think we made out pretty good, and we should be able to get 0% financing.
supposedly 15200 is what the dealer pays for the car... just wondering if we really did get a good deal or not.
next thing i wanna ask you guys since im not familiar with hondas, does honda have an oem lip kit for this car? she doesnt want to do anything to the new car but i do... basically im looking for quality parts that fit. the **** she put on the last car is the reason why she got fucked on the trade in. so what are the names of some good brands to look at? and some websites that carry them would help too. thanks guys.
heres a pic of my pig for views.

Honda offers 0% financing? $15200 is the dealer invoice, not what they paid for the car no matter what they tell you.
As far as factory extras try http://handa-accesssories.com. All Honda accessories that are reasonably priced.

So you already got the car?.... honestly, you're not getting any deal out of it because I also purchased my brand new 03 Lx for around the same price and later on I found out that was the ripped off price...Anyways, we always lose when it comes to stealers unless we know how to work them.. It's a great car though, regardless and especially for the girls... Is that a coupe or sedan?...

I saw an Ex coupe in the Honda show room for $18600 with freight, before taxes. Thats more than I paid for my 01 R in 2003. My '98 ex was $13500!

really? msrp was closer to 18 on the lx coupe. so if 15200 isnt good, how low can you get these guys? this was both of our first time buying a brand new car, so we thought we did good.
thanks for the help guys, and thanks for the kind words about my dub.

I checked Edmund's.com. The TMV(true market value) is what other people have been paying for the car was $14,997. That's for my zip code so it might be a little different for you. Add tax and you did pretty well. Good negotiating skills.

Your GF will have a solid reliable car that will run forever! Congrats!
Your VW = *drool*
I'm torque_junkie on vwvortex, I used to have a GTI VR6 with Audi RS4 17s and a custom audio system.
PS why are your sideview mirros differnet colors?

Re: (stevarooni)
Why is it that when us girls get new cars,( i just got a new 4dr ex special edition), that our boyfriends want to do a lot of stuff to it. my boyfriend called me before i even picked my car up from the dealership last month and told me he had a list of things my car "needs". This is my first car is worth doing anything new, so i am just learning and am pretty much letting him do what he wants to do. Any suggestions on what my car might actually "need"?

your car doesnt NEED anything, aftermarket is all about wants. In terms of performance mods, a short air intake is the easiest and cheapest upgrade and gives your car a little more attitude. i personally like the stock look, so i dont like to rice out the exterior and getting quality ground effects that look good can get pricey. but if i had 10k, id get a supercharger, upgrade brakes and suspension.

Re: (RustySI)
Intake was on his list, along with (hope i am getting this right), a rear sway bar, tie bars, and he wants to lower it about an inch. I want the car lowered too, too much gap between the tire and wheel well. He doesnt think my car handles very well, i have to agree, my old car handled better. The exterior is fine to me, i like it, we already got the back windows tinted, going to get the front ones done soon.
I think the reason he wants to work on my car is that he drives an Audi, so mine is cheaper and easier to work on.

Re: (lstncls7)
i have a short list of things that i want to do to here car, but i dont think shes gonna let me.
mainly i want to get her some nice wheels, but i dont like her taste in wheels.. she wants gunmetal, which i cant stand... i just think its so overdone and i never liked it anyway. so basically i lied to her and told her that gunmetal rims are too expensive, because gunmetaling is a complicated process, you know taking metal off of guns, thats why is so expensive.
next i wanna do the oem sideskirts. im not a fan of the front or rear lip, because they dont really do anything. from what i can tell it looks like the stick onto the bumper instead of actually making it lower. the front bumper is already lower than the sides, so i think just sides would look nice and clean.
i wanna paint her headlight housings black, but she doesnt trust me. and she wants a badgeless grill but i cant find anything of good quality.
she wont lower it either, and i wouldnt want her to, because were talking about a girl who is afraid of making left hand turns.
i also wanna do the oem fogs.
