Default i want to buy a civic si

hello
kind of new to the whole Honda thing. i found a 2002 si hatch for $8500. the car is all stock. the guy has a maintenance record a mile high on the car. it has 36k miles on it. seats are mint as is the body.
is this a good deal for this car.
whats the stock hp. (i think it has a k20 in it)
i also want to turbo it. greedy has a kit for it. what will the whp be on what ever the recommended pressure for a stock motor be?
dont mean to sound like a dumb *** but i have been driving a 91 wv 16v turbo jetta forever. i want to try something new.

thanks for you input ahead of time

-mike

sounds like a good deal to me
you have a k20a3 which equals to 160hp
same as the base model rsx

you can get as much power as you wanted if money isn't an issue
but 230whp-260whp with a turbo is pretty common

google and wikipedia can answer most of your questions if it has to do with specs

i'm sure another guy with a turbo background can help you more

i'm about the n/a myself

That sounds about right for a 2002 model so go jump on it. When you go look at it just look out for tranny grinds and steering rack noise. those are the 2 main pains we ep owners have with our cars. other than that youll love it. the greddy kit you can expect around 230ish to the wheels, and something like the cybernation kit youll be lookin at 260-270ish. hope all that helps!

$8500 for a clean, unsalted/unbent '02 w/36k miles & a documented service history sounds like an excellent buy. But, before you buy an EP3 intending to boost it, I recommend you actually hold an EP3 connecting rod in your hands and compare it with an RSX Type S rod. If you still want to boost an EP3, you'll have a better understanding of its mechanical limitations.

I sold my 02 with 62k on it for 10,200.

There should not be that many maintance papers because this car is fairly maintance free. Any accidents or anything? Make sure there is a vin on all doors hatch and hood, bumpers ect.

60-1 with 6-10psi on a stock k20a3 with 440cc and k-pro will be good enough for a daily driver. just make sure that u get the car tuned and it shouldnt blow. If ur buying a kit then it should be easy to turbo. I've seen a bone stock k20a2 motor with hks gt35r make 430whp at 10psi.

That's a FANTASTIC price, so pounce on it

Your first upgrade should be the intake manifold. Get the one from the base RSX or a generic one. You'll get an instant boost of 10 ft/lbs of torque.

I would say the intake manifold gasket instead. Ive heard the plastic is not as good for modding later down the road

That is a pretty damn good price I think.... Thats the only reason I'd go for it.. because the RSK type S is way better, but you aint gonna find one at that price, I think the 99-00 SI's are way better too, as is the gsr.. but boost it.

the si's interior alone is worth buying it. it makes gsr and 99-0 si interiors look like they came out of a '95 metro

The lowest price with low miles rsx I could find was for 13k with 45k on it. If you plan to swap it just save for the rsx.

The 99-00 si I would say is not better. I liked the looks better but it reminded me of my EX so much that is why I passed on it.

looks is all personal opinion and what switches hard?

$8500 for a clean, unmolested 36k mile EP3 is a damn good deal

both an EM1 and EP3 are pretty slow. an EM1 is like an integra with a b16 swap. itd be a good race between both SI's stock for stock. I dont see what makes an EP3 any shittier than an EM1.

Ah I love it, is someone jealous of our k- series? both the em1 and ep3 have the same hp, the ep3 has more torque, a flatter torque curve, and you can get up to speed easilly w/o revving the **** out of it.Mod for mod the K is going to respond better than the B. plus as i said the interior is 10x better than your gsr or the em1, plus their not a dime a dozen. Get it dood
