i need your opinion
sorry if this bugs anyone but i was wondering...
i raced someone on my way back to work VW 1.8t Pasaat
uphiLL, and we gunned it i was in 2nd and puLLed on him untiL we ran out of road.
nextday at schooL i hear the guy i raced was running a 22 psi turbo
aLso that he never pushes his car and he aLways shifts at 3,000 RPM whiLe 'racing'
but now someother guys wants to drive his car and race me
he said his car is making 230whp.
i think thats extremeLy weak.
what do u guys think wiLL happen.
ohhh....and im stock.

if he really is 230whp and if he pushes it then i would guess that you will lose
230whp > 170whp
thats a 60whp difference
i know that they weigh more but is it enough to counterbalance the difference of 60whp
22psi sounds like a lot
make it an official race with him and let us know
oh yeah, stay safe

22 psi is nothing on a t25, but 22psi is HUGE on a gt40. The EVO for example, runs a really high psi, but it's a relatively small snail. This allows turbo lag to be minimized, but limits power output.
60 WHP is huge, but a passat does weigh a good amount more. With a good driver, i think it could be made up.
Also, for dc5-s's, we probably make around 60 WHP at 300 RPM's. It should be in that area, although, that is just simply an assumption. I dont care what car you're in unless it weigh's less than 500 pounds, you're not going anywhere fast with 60 WHP in a 3000 pound car.

what i was saying that if he shifts at 3000 rpm's he wont be going anywhere fast. i hope you realize that power being made isnt the same at all rpm's. In other words, if he shifts at 3000 he might be making only 60 whp or so. Maybe a bit more for his car, but i used OUR cars as an example. Small engine + low rpm's = no power.
If the guy that wants to race you normally drives an STI, he wont do well going back to a car that uses only two wheels to propel the car forward. He will be too used to having a lot of traction right off the bat. Unless he has driven both a lot recently, he will just redline first gear and not move due to him wheel hopping and burning out.
Whatever the case is, street racing is bad. Imagine losing your license and having to go out with a girl. I've said it before and i'll say it again, no car=no vagina. Girls dont want people that ride the bus.
