Default EP redesign on the way soon?

Hey, I really didn't like the 2001 Civic Sedan or Coupe when they debuted, a friend of mine bought one and I couldn't help but feel he made a bad choice. This coming from a guy that drives a nearly 15 year old car! But the redesign of the Coupe this year looks great IMO, maybe that's because it's new, but I have to admit I wouldn't mind driving one of the Coupes (Sedan looks better too, but still ugly).

So it got me thinking how awesome it would be if Honda did a little redign on the Si. Naturally, only the front and rear fascia would likely be changed, along with possibly the optional equipment...etc. But changing the headlights alone might be enough to get me into one.

Has there been any word or speculation on this?

The Si did get changed for 04 compared to the previous years. It got new headlights and new tailights. Don't look for any changes next year. The EP will either stay the same appearance or it will be cut from production (no one really likes the car).

Don't forget the sideskirts, 5-lug, and 'retuned' suspension in the 04's

I heard that the production of the EP3 was ended. In August, the dealer will receive their last shipment. But I can't confirm this since I read it on H-T.

originally, the 04 was the last EP honda planned to produce, but for some strange reason, they will continue carrying an 05 model. perhaps they have that many leftover 04s (?)

I've been seeing more now than ever before.
I feel it's due to the used car price being more inline with what you get.
I was happy to pay $15k, not $19k.
I like the car, I don't regret getting it.
And c'mon, it's Honda's new hatch!

is the 04 suspension a great deal different then the earlier ep3s?

i think the ep is a great decision if you cant afford a dc5(better engine but i think ep looks better). lovin my ep so far

That makes sense. If Honda follows their usual production run of 4 or 5 years, 06 should be a new model. So they will carry over any of the 04 models to 05, and then the 8th gen should be out. It seems as if the 04 model was the mid production revamping that Honda does, like on the EF, EK, and DC2.

Im anxious to see what the 2nd gen RSX/5th gen Integra will look like

Instead of a 15mm rear bar, the 04 has a 17mm.

Hopefully Honda also increased the dampening characteristic of the shock also...

i realy don't like the ep3. The way it looks is just retarded. they should of just kept the coupe style and worked on that, but with the right ext. mods done to it, it can look ok. Something that i wouldn't drive thats all.
This is just my opinion. shouldn't matter to anyone else.

I give it two

Yeah the EP3 could go either way; stop at 7th gen or continue a few years into the 8th gen(like the del sol which was in production with EGs and EKs). It is just the below expected sales that lead me to believe that it might be discontinued. But the Jazz/Fit factor must be considered. The revamping of the EP3 for 04 might be a preview to what the 8th gen will look like. I hope the Fit/Jazz comes over, it will be a great car to go under the civic.

I thought that Honda pulled the Si line from '05 at U.S. dealers due to poor sales? And that 2004 was the last year of the Si in the states. Again.

the ek si was nice but i thought it should have been a hatch to keep with the tradition. i hope they keep with the hatches for the next si.

Man, I checked out the H-T's best EP3 thread in the Appearance forum, and I saw two that looked really awesome! I don't like how raked the windshield is, it looks kinda funky and minivan-ish, but other than that it's pretty decent. The new headlights help alot, IMO.

I'm intrigued, how's the engine? Low redline and no VTEC (well, not like we're used to) seems kinda disappointing.

Still, if I could get a new one with the nicer headlights for 16K that would be AWESOME!

Well for one I own one and can visually see the 5 lug and the sideskirts, and its pretty much common knowledge that 04 has a 17mm rear sway as opposed to the 15mm in the '02 & '03's. And there is much speculation brewing about the ride height compared to the '02 & '03's. Here's one discussion about it http://www.ephatch.com/forum/s...eight. But not really any solid confirmation about that.

Another member on ephatch picked up a brochure and compared specs as well finding

Stabi bars: '03 = 25.4/15, '04 = 25.4/17
Steering wheel turns (lock to lock): '03 = 2.84, '04 = 2.68
Turning Diameter (ft): '03 = 34.8, '04 = 37.4
Wheels: '03 = 15" Alloy, '04 = 16" Alloy
Tires: '03 = 195/60/15, '04 = 205/55/16
(Tire O.D. '03 = 24.2126", '04 = 24.8780" (.6654" increase, or the vehicle will sit .3327" higher, and will have .3327" less wheel gap))
Curb Weight: '03 (no Airbag) 2744, '04 (no Airbag) 2782 (38 lbs. up)

What are new 04's going for now? I live in So. Cal and I am looking to get an EP as a daily driving college car. I'd ideally like to pick one up for less than $17k, is this realistic? I know that 02s/03s went for $16XXX new when they were current.
