Default 2006 Civic Stereo Question

I just bought an 06 Civic Coupe LX, and I friggin love it. Just one thing. Would it be possible to add a subwoofer to the factory stereo? (are there outputs on the back of the stereo?). If so, how tha heck do you take the stereo out? It seems like you would need to take the entire dash off.

i have an 02 so it might be diff....

i had to get a new head unit (went wih pioneer). To get mine out i poped the plasic from around the unit out, then used some factory keys to unlock and pull it. (they were available for me). I know its possible to release the clips from the back of mine but thats a bitch. Honda makes working on stuff like that harder with each generation, so im pretty sure the 8th is gunna be a lot more complicated

Well, the problem is that the stereo is completely built in to the dash. I mean, there is no possible way that I could just take the stereo out and put an aftermarket stereo in. If I wanted to put in an aftermarket stereo, I would literally have to cut out a hole in the dash!

I hope somebody else figure this out, because I'm not too happy with the sound of the stereo.

ok...this is actually lstncls, reefer_bob put a sub in my 05 EX SE, and never had to take out the stereo. he tapped into the speakers where the wires run behind the outeredge of my back seat, the little side piece.

Unfortunately, Honda does NOT put pre-amp outputs on the back of the audio units. There is an accessory from Honda called "Bass Speaker Kit" it consists of a very small gain control box and some wires and two "Bass" speakers that replace the stock ones in the rear deck. They aren't subs. They probably aren't as good as most aftermarkets. The only real way to add subs would be to tap into the speaker wires and get one of those line level converters... available aftermarket.

i think that is what reefer_bob did on my civic, little green box, tapped into the speaker wires running behind my seat. I have had no problems with it, except deciding my 10 inch sub isnt good enough and wanting a 12.

The 2006 Cicic's XM Satellite Radio Kit indicates that there is a 2-Port sub-harness and attachment kit included.
