Default 1000 miles on my 06' SI

After a good 800 miles of 'breaking in' the SI (don't start the flame war with "you don't need to break a car in cause___", cause I choose too) I finally started ripping on the car. The previous topics on the new SI and how the LSD is 'not noticable' is not correct. I am driving this SI in North Dakota with snow/ice on the roads, and it is a very VERY nice addition to the Civic. I traded my 04 rsx-s in on the SI and I don't care who wants to argue with me about it, it was hands down the right move.

SI pulls strong in vtec and being a guy that works in this industry at a speed shop, it is very impressive. Vtec is a lot louder in the SI than the RSX and handling is MUCH better. I am awaiting anything to be released from Injen, DC, and other brands, and as soon as I get stuff ordered and installed I will keep all posted... Being I work for a shop, I am hoping to be one of the first to mod nothing out yet though, but I keep checking with my vendors

very good move..

i'm glad you previously own an RSX-S and say the SI is better... because INDEED the facts sheet say it IS better...
too many pisspoor dumb ignorant honda-techer's still think their DC5 is the **** ....when its clearly NOT!...

fact of the matter is, 06 SI has many of the nice features RSX has...same 6spd, practically similar 2.0L motor, diffrent head..but makes more power on the dyno, added LSD, navi...good suspension...cooler interior...

The rsx is getting old and outdated and is a 2001, 5 years old design.....

there is no point in buying a RSX no more...the SI is the new sports compact **** from Honda....... its no wonder why Honda is marketting it so much.... compared to the RSX. I haven't even seen a single RSX commercial for years!

I agree with a lot of your post, but one thing that I still stand behind, is that the RSX-S is still A KILLER car.... I just wanted something new to the market to show potential customers with civics what can be done in the future.... and to be one of the first to mod it

I know about the AEM intake, but Injen is the only intake I will use. And DC has the catback part number but nothing available... this is directly from AEM/DC reps mouth...

DC Sports catback for 2006 Honda Civic Si = SCS7034

It's all over eBay right now for $480.

Also, the intake from AEM isn't shipped out yet.

The people at DC are idiots.... I just called with that part number and they do have the 'single canister catback available, but only usable with the race header" Guess what ISN'T available.....yup the race header... catch 22 as of now GHEY!!!!

Thanks for the info...it is funny that I go through 3 different distributors that carry DC/AEM and nobody has a clue, call DC direct now 4 times and finally with that part number they are able to tell me what is and isn't available...

Wait continues...........

That was just my final selling point.... I wanted to really hear from someone who ownded both cars to give their input.... Everyone talks about how heavy the Si is but the 1/4 mile times are the same as the 02-04 type-s stock... Plus the motor has a lot of potential with mods... I saw the one at Mel Rapton Honda about a week and a half ago// It was black// very nice// I just wasnt ready to get it yet (waiting on my tax return ) But it looks a lot better in person... Keeo us posted with any mods.. I am very interested to see what kind of power it is going to make with a few mods...

hey l337hxr, shut the expletive up. Why do you always talk **** about rsx type s? I have nothing against the si, but I personally don't think it is better than the type s. It is true that the si has lsd and optional navi, but if it is all that, then why in the world honda have it priced between 20K? Yeah, you probably will say that so youngers and many other people can afford it but what does that mean to the public? It means that a civic is a civic. No matter what, it will not be better than the type s. It may be better now with the extra of lsd and navi (big deal), but in the long run, you really think that the car will be better? Man, stop hating on the type s just because the new si came out and have lsd and ****. ******* donkey!!! Oh and by the way, I think the older 90-01 si looks much better than this new one so stop bragging about it becaues it is "A New Release Car".

One mans opinion doesn't always change anothers. Did it occur to any of you that people have different tastes? What's it to you if they think and RSX-s is a better car?

thats your opinion, this is mine. Freedom of speech. Sue me. RSX is dead...you can't back it up ...honda is no longer marketing the car as strong as it should be. Honda is spending all its marketing on the SI...

you're an idiot.....price has NOTHING to do with the quality of a car... a Viper costs 90grand but the same Corvette Z06 for 20-30grand cheaper is a better value sports car than the Viper!

I can't believe you're using price to compare a car's quality...... It is not always directly proportional. Why do you think a G35 for 31grand sells more than a Lexus IS300 for 31grand 2-3 years ago?? fagget.......... stupid 06 trial member. wut a n00b.

you can worship your DC5 RSX-S ....but if what you're saying is true... I bet your ******* *** a year 2050 Honda Civic SI will rape the **** out of the DC5 RSX-S ??? right? do you see my ******* point?? (you can't argue " oh its still a civic!" ) the RSX would be 50 years outdated to ****... even then... the RSX is already 5years+ outdated as i stated!

Do you NOT think a brand new Acura's like TSX, TL's, are MUCh better car than say, a 1989 or 1990 Lexus LS400 or BMW 3series ???? would you rock in those old *** cars or a brand new Acura luxury car?

in the end, have a nice day, expletive you and sue me.

Maybe they should change the name back to integra istead of rsx. I hate that they did that.

why argue? si is si, rsx is rsx, they just had the same engine so you guys start compare them?
and i don't think the rsx is dead, it still a good car, you can't say " oh, rsx is expletive cuz it's a older car and honda won't care about them anymore" any factory will marketing their new products at the first time they come out and i don't think after like 3 - 4 years, the SI still hv a lot of commercials.
and yes i drive an old car, i own an ITR but i still think is a legendly car.

I've seen the race header advertised on eBay for $360 shipped. I'm considering the race header/catback combo.

just to let you guys know the rsx is not dead. the 07 rsx is going to dominate the Si. dont get me wrong i loooove the new Si, it is sick and i was really considering trading my 02 type s for a Si, they got a **** load of badass things in one cool car. but just wait a little longer to see what honda throws in their 07 rsx and compare then.

i went down to honda and one of the guys down there took me for a test drive, it was the first time the car had even been driven, and he was redlining it pretty bad, but it didnt feel that fast..at least compared to the rsx type-s.. (dont start a flame war, just stating my first drive w/ it) and yes i do still want an si, but is there a diff. from breaking it in then really opening it up?

Hey guys, my brother drives an 05 RSX-S and I drive an 04 EP3.

I was thinking about trading in my ep3 for either an 06 RSX-S or an 06 Si, well after test driving both of them, we agree, the 06 Si feels slower than my brothers 05 RSX-S.

The 05 RSX-S feels like power comes on stronger and harder than the 06 Si, even though the Si sounds louder and more aggressive in VTEC. The Si has a cool funky futuristic look inside, while the 05 type S has a much more luxurious and mature cabin. I guess it all comes down to what you guys prefer, drive both. I really haven't warmed up to the Si's look yet, so looks like I'm going for an 06 VBP Type S once my dealer gets one in.

I knew when I first posted on http://www.clubrsx.com and asked the question "should I get a new SI and trade my 04 rsx-s" that it was going to be the question of the next few years... Being I didn't have the new k20 in my rsx I can't really compare stock power to power...but you want my honest grips about both cars, here it is:

04 rsx-s: interior is blah, leather yes, but dash is very boring, back seats are useless, driving in winter is impossible, vtec was not very aggressive, seats (even though leather) required my 5'4" 110 lb girlfriend to sit on a pillow for drives over 3 hours. Car IS sexy though, and I loved the styling, the reason I spent $21k for the 04 and didn't buy a new rsx is because with the new headlight and taillight design, the 05+ looks more like a sebring from the front and the rear is blah.

06 SI - stock non nav stereo is EXTREMELY weak. The rsx with bose (even though I stand behind "no highs, no lows, must be bose), sounded very good for stock. The SI's engine bay is going to be difficult for any mods, and much of the work will have to be done from under the car (thank god I work at a shop with a lift). The SI gets worse gas mileage when beating on it than the rsx, the stock 17" wheels are pretty blah.

I love my SI and will hold strong in any argument on SI vs. any 02-04 rsx-s.

On the good side, tonight I will be tinting my vehicle (I work for tintmasters, so that is convienent) and put in 8000k HID's

hope this helps, and yes I do believe that after 500 miles it felt stronger and more 'alive' than when I got it with 12 miles.
