Engine Finally Out
In all of it's broken nakedness:
*Note: 2nd set of engine mounts (rubber ones) were shot. Making my own.
*Note: Unlike F-car engines, the NSX engine is ugly IMO. I think before the car is finished I'll be prettying it up quite a bit. Maybe a matte silver theme?
*Note: Pics make it look better than it really does in person.
Waiting for the invoice from SoS for the rebuild. Seems they're waiting on confirmation of piston availability. Perhaps by Thanksgiving the engine will be complete.

Pfft, I barely put air in my own tires anymore. Actually, I asked my mechanic to give me a call when he was taking it out 'cuz I'd like to help. I didn't get a call until after the fact: "Hey Shawn, my motor is out."

Elves. Strong ones but not too smart. I don't know, I'll ask him. Fairly sure he used his portable lift but I'll ask.

Your mechanic is a smart dude Is that a solid mount I see? I'd be afraid to use one esp with more torque as it may cause breakage elsewhere.

Same compression...bigger bore...longer stroke...

It'd be cheaper and less frustrating if you just paid somebody to kick you in the nuts. Which, coincidentally, is my take on golf as well.

I can drop the motor and pull both cylinder heads in 4 - 4 1/2 hours. Its not a bad job at all if you know what you are doing.

I take it someone is going for the SOS stage 4 or stage 5 kit (minus all the previous stages? I think I remember reading that you have a few parts laying around that you pollish when bored)

I can't even imagine how much that is going to cost...
If I ever get an NSX, I'll be sure to try to pull the engine if I ever need too on my own... I just want to do it for some strange reason....

Wow, that's amazing, I hope everything turns out alright. If I had one I wouldn't sell it but replace the motor, so good on you

Actually, I believe the compression is a bit more but will still be able to run pump gas. I wasn't too keen on buying $10 a gallon 110 octane.
Candid or coy, knightie? Okay okay, just put a deposit down on a 3.6l. You should buy an NSX b/c I'm writing a story about the whole deal in the club magazine. Engine should be a lot "prettier" with help of a generous soul and some powdercoating.

Nah, that's a baffled oil pan I bought from an unnamed jack-*** NSX vendor. I've since removed and sold it. I'll be selling everything on my car from unnamed jack-*** NSX vendor as well.
Anyone want to buy a satin silver coolant bottle?

That's a hard one to figure out. I've been lucky and haven't had any problems with him. If his prices weren't so cheap I dont think he would have any customers.
Ever find out what you mechanic used to roll the motor out from under the car?

Just use a CC for every purchase from him. What's funny/sad/frustrating is that he's promoting his new SC system and as soon as one blows up, his customer service skill will really shine through to the community. But that's if the Attorney General of Oklahoma doesn't send him to prison for mail fraud first.

Yep, he put a heavy duty 4 wheeled dollie beneath the engine and lifted the car from around the engine.
