Many people have Integras that appear to be R's but are not. Maybe locate one of these? Even a base model Integra with a Japanese front end on it is very appealing to a thief.

Also, is it OnStar that shuts your car down remotely for you? Maybe have that installed on the bait car.

Maybe contact the local police and see if they would be interested in helping in a sting op.

I think it would be very fulfilling to help catch a car thief.

my deepest condolences v-attack.. this **** is crazy.. on tv you see a crack down on drugs. pick pockets and even hoes.. why not car thefts.. this **** causes all types of probelms too.. if the cops dont get the job done then you noe what, time to do it ourselves.. to hell with this.... Why doesn't someone who has a shell or would donate one set it up as bait. I'm sure you could actually fool quite a few theives and not risk someones pride and joy. I wish I had a shell from any year around. I would make that look as close to an R as possible with replica parts and fool the **** out of a few thieves. Then set up a camera and some how figure out how to wirelessly stop the car and lock to door locks. I've seen an episode of cops where they are doing it so it has to be possible. Imagine the look on their faces when they get busted and they find out it wasn't even a real R [/rant]

Humm.. vigilante operation huh? I don't think it would be a good idea, I think you guys would just get into more trouble than it's worth and the theif would walk free, if he's still alive.

My condolences v-attack. It must be a sad time for u. But as for 696 sometimes its better to stay out problems. How do u know who goes on this site u might make yourself a victim. I just finished reading through all six pages, thoroughly. What I find interesting is your statement about getting the car registered, then it's gone several days afterwards.

Do you remember who you spoke with at the registration facility? Chances are he/she could have tipped someone off. I remember this happening to me last summer when I went in to register mine. This chick behind the counter got all excited that it was a Type R and said her boyfriend was looking for one. Needless to say, I ended up giving her a false address. Bitch.

At anyrate, everyone has said ten times over what I can say. Since both cars have been recovered, are you interested in rebuilding? Don't let the car thieves dictate your life bro.

Forget putting your "R" up for bait... A stolen car, no matter how angry it makes you, isn't worth your personal safety. Those guys will eventually end up in jail, and let me tell you, they'll get more than they reckoned for in there.

Insurance can handle these sorts of things. Sucks, but that's what insurance is for.

Both cars are already spoken for if I decide to purchase them back, most likely I wont because the sight of the cars really pisses me off. I have no need anymore for the stress brought by owning these cars, and seeing them stripped.

What the heck, they do it w/ other cars & drugs. U can't tell they're not able to do this. I've even seen them use a Civic, they let the car be cranked & drive off for less than a block, remotely kill the motor & move in for the grab. They even have a hidden camera looking @ the theif in action.

Honestly cops could care less. Unless they are told to do something they do it. I'd like it to happen to, but in Miami, there's a lot more goin on than a car theft.
