is this worth it
a 2001 type r with a theft title. the dealership wanted 13,000 for it and i knocked them down to 10,000 but my goal is 9,000. the only things that are not original are the front and rear seats and the engine happens to be an lsvtec. the tranny is still that of a type r and i can tell because of the lsd stamp. the only problem with the car is that the idle goes to normal then down then normal and down again and is not consistant and there seams to be and exhaust leak other than that the thing is mint. so what you think worth it?

9K seems OK. Not great, you can get a clean title for around $12K, but it almost impossible to get a clean title for $9k.....so take your pick.
Lack of the correct motor hurts it as much as the title. You aren't planning to finance this are you?

You'd get a loan for a used car that's gone through a rice boy's washer and dryer?

IF you plan to keep it and the dealer doesn't kill you on interest rates financing isn't that bad, but keep in mind what insurance would give you if it were stolen.
I'll reiterate, plans change but IF you really do plan to keep it, its not that bad of a deal.
Do you have a link with photos?

i live in the northeast and finding a type r is like trying to find a red pebble of sand on the beach. usually its the owners trying to sell it with close to 100k on it and they want tons of cash on it. plus my credit isnt to great so getting a loan for a private sale is very hard

Re: (raphael)
I'd pass on that car. How funny would that be if it was stolen again. The looks on the thieves faces when they realize it's just an LS VTEC!

stop trying to be so cool with your "Type R"
you realize if you post that thing in the ITR section you'll be laughed at?
ls/vtec isn't B18C5
Theft title kills price
it doesn't run properly
exhaust leak
seats have been replaced</TD></TR></TABLE>here we have an example of someone who starts arguments in the thread by saying that im trying to be cool with "type r" because im 19. obviously its not 100% original hence the price. my main concern is is it worth it. stop trying to present yourself as being mature just to pump yourself up and act like you dont have wants like every other guy on this site.
